The Hill: Spy agencies disproportionately white, male
Employees at U.S. intelligence agencies are overwhelmingly and disproportionately white and male, according to internal figures.
A recent “strategic human capital plan” shows that employees at the nation’s 17 spy agencies are 77 percent white and 62 percent male. The country at large, meanwhile, is 62 percent white and 49 percent male, according to the latest Census data.
The report also showed that the workforce was fairly evenly split between staffers in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Just 15 percent of employees were either younger than 30 or older than 60.
The employment data, which is from fiscal year 2011, is likely to trouble officials and critics who have pushed for more diversity throughout the U.S. government.

WNU Editor: I can see now .... an affirmative action program for future spies, intelligence officials, and analysts .... and I would not be surprised if future promotions will be also based on the same criteria.

ReplyDeleteAnd such a program will "need" all kinds of documentation and certification. It's fortunate that foreign intelligence entities are unable to penetrate our government data bases in that case.

When the US went into Afghanistan, neither the DIA or the NSA had any Urdo or Pashto speakers on staff, it's not really a second or third language for pasty faced middle aged white guys.
The Taliban rearming and build up in Singar was reported in detail publically by RAWA, but their reports were dismissed as the "hysterical fears" of a bunch of "wymmen", right up until the Marines and Seals got ambushed and slaughtered.
A "perfect" example is the counter propaganda program against ISIS. ISIS propaganda is created by a bunch of social media savvy, techie, FPS game playing millennials. The US counter propaganda looks like it was created by somebody's Grandpa on AOL, complete with chain e-mails.
Yeah, because too few pasty faced black guys would bother to learn Urdu.
ReplyDeleteLot's of American's speak Urdu, just not a lot of "white guys". Ther's actually about 6 times as many white female Urdu speakers than white guys.
DeleteThere's about 170,000 Farsi speakers in the US, but only about 30 are "white Guy's".
