Matt Spetalnick, Reuters: As foreign crises pile up, Obama seen taking few risks in final year
As Barack Obama prepares to deliver his final State of the Union address on Tuesday night, the U.S. president and his aides have insisted he will not be content simply to run out the clock on foreign policy and is acting decisively to tackle crises piling up around the globe.
But former U.S. officials and experts familiar with the White House’s thinking say he appears locked into policies aimed more at containing such threats and avoiding deeper U.S. military engagement in the last year of his presidency.
This, they say, all but guarantees that the toughest geopolitical challenges will be inherited by Obama’s successor. Britain avoided war by not getting involved Czechoslovakia and that worked out well.
Herr Hitler only got the The Škoda Works, no biggie.
The English and French had as many tanks as the Germans. The Char B was better than a German tank. The Germans might have been at a more foreseeable disadvantage without former Czech tanks and newly produced ones from Skoda.
IT is amazing to see panzers at the French Channel Coast and among them are recognizably Czech tanks. I am sure Rommel thanked Chamberlain profusely from the bottom of his heart.
I am sure Neville Obama knows what is best.
Obama will be busy enough, not with new wars, but with coping with the wars he's lost: Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia -- Mr. Nobel Peace Prize has a problem, finding defeat with honor.
Obama should never have been in Libya unless you believe in R2P.
But R2P is a mess. You have to set threshold and prioritize problems. Depending on how you define problems and what is actionable, you can invade any country.
This is not a neo-con creation. This is the baby of Samantha Power.
It has Democrap written all over it.
