Like most people convicted of Murder in Europe by soft-bleeding hearts.

Because they're useful. Nothing like having (plausibly denied) ready made excuses for invasions and continued occupations.

The NAZIs were just a little less subtle than their understudies in today's "West".

  3. Why didn't they shoot him in the head? If he is carrying a bomb with a detonator in or near his hand, shooting him in the legs does nothing. Anything short of destroying his CNS lets him push the button, but so much for that little girl if that happened, at least the cops wouldn't have killed a terrorist, they let him do that himself

    1. 4 got 7 years, some got more, some got less.

Giving Material Support for Terrorism, what they wound up being convicted of, is a "lesser" charge than knowingly aiding and abetting terrorism,

      "Knowingly" is the key word.

The Prosecutors in France could not prove, ( keep in mind, it's a Napoleanic Law structure) that the 24 charged, "knew" they were aiding in a terrorist act at the time.
