Josh Rogin, Washington Post: Obama proposes new military partnership with Russia in Syria

The Obama administration has proposed a new agreement on Syria to the Russian government that would deepen military cooperation between the two countries against some terrorists in exchange for Russia getting the Assad regime to stop bombing U.S.-supported rebels.

The United States transmitted the text of the proposed agreement to the Russian government on Monday after weeks of negotiations and internal Obama administration deliberations, an administration official told me. The crux of the deal is a U.S. promise to join forces with the Russian air force to share targeting and coordinate an expanded bombing campaign against Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda’s branch in Syria, which is primarily fighting the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

  1. I don't think Putin will listen to anything that Obama has to say, in fact I'm sure Putin will propose something completely the opposite and not budge on it. And further more expect the US backed rebels to get a few surprise Russian airstrikes just to be sure that Putin gets his point across.

  2. I'm pretty sure Larov is going to "pass" on Kerry's "proposal"'of more US cooperation, in exchange for setting up vast swathes of Syria up as "jihadi Safe Zones", where they can headchop, breed and train safe from the RSAF and the SAAF.

Between Minsk I, Minsk II, and the US stalling for 4 months on the only thing they had to do it's pretty clear that any agreements with the US are worthless.

Kerry had one job to do regarding the Cessation of Hostilities.

Either A/1), get “our” pet jihadi headchoppers to stop being BFF’s with either al Quida or ISIS, sign off on the Reconciliation process and stop chopping off heads,

A/2), get “our” pet jihadi headchoppers to stop being BFF’s with either al Quida or ISIS, phone in their GPS coordinates, and start fighting against al Quida and ISIS,

Or B), list them as terrorist jihadi headchoppers and add them to the “to be bombed “ lists.

Kerry just stalled for over 4 months, while the CIA rushed in 32 tons of ammo and weapons, the Turks bussed 8,000 of their pet jihadi’s from Ildib Province, through Turkey, into Aleppo Province to reinforce al Quida.

Mean while, in the city of Aleppo, the jihadi headchoppers never stopped for a day firing artillary, mortars, “hell cannons” and sniper fire, ( along with the ususal load of suicide bombers) into Government held Aleppo, where 1.4 million people still live.

Two weeks ago, both ISIS and al Quida launced offensives against Government held areas in Aleppo, Aleppo Province and Tamir.

Given the fate of the US's most recent $100 million dollar attempt to create a "Syrian Moderate" anti-Assad/anti-ISIS force, in the form of the New Syrian Army,

One can understand Kerry and States desperate need to protect and preserve al Quida in Syria as a viable anti-Assad force.
