Washington Examiner: Trump: UN just a 'club' for people to 'have a good time'

"The United Nations has such great potential but right now it is just a club for people to get together, talk and have a good time. So sad!" Trump wrote in a tweet.

The message comes following a decision by President Obama to abstain from a U.N. Security Council vote condemning Israel's settlements in the West Bank and parts of Jerusalem. The abstention marked an historic change in policy that permitted the resolution to pass.

WNU Editor: Being one who has worked at the UN (ICAO in Montreal, and contract work in New York City) .... I have my own perspective. For those who do the office work, the translations, printing, cleaning, security, etc. .... it is hard work. For the diplomatic corp .... President-Elect Trump's observations are accurate .... the UN is a place where you network .... and if you have the budget to throw a party (and get invited to them) .... you will always have a good time. How do I know .... I saw and did it all. And here is a small confession .... if the Canadian government (or any other government for that matter) should ever offer me a diplomatic post for any UN office .... I will admit that I will take it in a heartbeat .... at least for a few years (much to the chagrin of the GF who just wants to travel right now).

  2. A moronic statement! I have a relative now in Africa doing social media for an outfit that is part of the UN...that is to help where help is needed.
