"Good sign?" I must confess I know very little about China. My first thought was this is an insult to the incoming POTUS. Clearly our current trade agreements need to be renegotiated. Clearly the rhetoric coming from team Trump has not been helpful nor has the rhetoric from China been helpful either. Clearly both sides will need to tone it down and work together constructively.
A model for how this might be done is the negotiations that ended Cold War I. While the rhetoric especially from the Reagan Administration was heated at times, when it came to negotiate, the parties were respectful to each other. Hopefully this can be duplicated here.
