AFP: At least five dead in shooting at Quebec City mosque: media
Quebec City (AFP) - At least five people were killed and several people wounded after gunmen opened fire at a mosque in Quebec City, media reported.
A Quebec police spokesman confirmed that there were people killed, but did not say how many.
Two suspects in the shooting were arrested, he said.
Police did not rule out the possibility of a third suspect who had fled the scene.
The motive of the attack was not immediately clear. Police set up a perimeter around the mosque.
A few dozen people were inside the Islamic Cultural Center when the shooting began just after 8:00 pm (0100 GMT Monday), CBC reported, citing its French-language service Radio-Canada.
According to CBC, Quebec City Police Constable Etienne Doyon said at the time of the attack mostly men were gathered at the mosque for evening prayers.

WNU Editor: After spending a day and evening skiing with the GF and friends .... I sit down in front of my computer and the first thing I see is this terrible story. For those who may not know .... I live in Quebec. And talk about timing .... only yesterday I was writing about my own personal experience on how immigration has changed the community that I live in (the link is here) .... and how Canadian government policy towards open immigration has created a growing resentment against the immigrant ghettos that are now forming on the island of Montreal. And while I do not know the details of tonight's terror attack .... I can say with confidence that the group responsible are French-Quebec nationalists who decided to target an ethnic community that is not like them (i.e. white French Quebecers). For those who may not know .... here is a little education about Quebec. To begin .... it is not like the rest of Canada. It is a French province that has traditionally been very hostile towards other ethnic groups .... it was first directed at the English (who over the years have simply left the province), and while the Quebec/Canadian media prefers not to talk about it .... it is now being directed at the immigrant communities. This xenophobic mindset is deeply rooted .... and while many Quebecers will deny it .... it is there. I have experienced it first hand more than once (in both my personal and professional life) .... and while I do have a thick skin .... it has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I will update this story tomorrow when more details become available, and I will give my own explanation/analysis on how Canada's immigration policy of letting in refugees is creating a resentment within the French population of Quebec who see these immigrants as a threat to their cultural identity.

Diversity and we all hold hands an love one another, yea that works, I know when I go to coffee this morning there will be no outrage and lots of support for the shooters. Our so called leaders and their media really don't understand whats going on.
ReplyDeletefair enough, twn: now tell us what is going on
ReplyDeletefred
ReplyDeleteThat's jays full time job, and he's Canadian!
Mohammed from Morocco is identified as one of the suspects according to Fox news. Also both suspects were alleged to be yelling Allah Akbar......
ReplyDeleteYou should stay away from fake news sites for starters,
DeleteThen avoid/ignore twitter claims until actual facts come out and are confirmed.

They have 2 people in custody, other than that the police aren't saying much.
ReplyDeleteThey are saying there was only 1 shooter and he was white.
ReplyDeleteWhat I do not understand is why there were 2 people fleeing or why 2 AK47s and a handgun were recovered.
Would 1 shooter really need 2 AK 47s?
This is not adding up.
AK47 is a prohibited weapon in Canada the only people that have them are anyone that owned one back in the 1990's and they were grandfathered to them, the only people that could buy them are people that have that particular license. I wonder where they got them. Something doesn't smell right about this. There are a number of weapons they could of got SKS also the CZ58 but not AK's, unless they smuggled them in, which is not to hard, the border is pretty porous between Quebec and the US.
ReplyDeleteTWN. I live across the river from the Indian reservation of Kahnawake. I can buy an AK-47 for about $1,000 (ammo is extra) .... at least that was the case a few years ago. Today .... I do not know. But I do know that if the police arrest me today with an AK-47 in my hands, the penalty is 10 years in jail .... period.
ReplyDeleteThe point is just not the AK47s. We will probably find out where they came from by the time a trial is ended.
ReplyDeleteWhy would he need 2?
Why just not carry extra clips?
2 AK 47s might have meant 2 assailants, but not necessarily so.
Initial reports are often not accurate.
DeletePolice have not issued any reports of guns recovered, the only factual hint is Bisonette has been charged with using a "prohibited weapon", which could be anything from a pistol to a modified SKS or AR model.
While the purchase of "black guns" and fully automatic guns are highly restricted, semi-automatic rifles are not, and there is a fairly large sized market for "smuggling, ( often via UPS or Fedex) of "gun kits" from the US.
So, one can "legally" buy a semi-auto rifle that meets regulations, then illegally modify it into an "assault" rifle.
A large part of the illegal cross border trade also includes smuggling guns into Canada.
There's only so many times you can blame America!
ReplyDeleteLMAO.
Phil,
ReplyDeleteThis is no laughing matter. The messaging against America and it's people bears very little difference to that against the Jews by Nazi Germany in the 1930s. It appears the United States and it's people are to serve in the role that the Jews served in the 1930s. Hopefully things will end much better for us than they did for the Jews of that era. As I stated, this is no laughing matter.
LMAO,

Same day as the Muslim ban.
Edicts from Hair Furour replacing the system of checks and ballances and the rule of law,
LMAO, but it's good to see all the Dylan Roof supporters out.
Thank you for the links Jay. As you know I have been warning about this for a long time .... even a day before Sunday's horrific attack. In the suburb of Montreal where I live there has been numerous attacks with graffiti on buildings that cater to minorities AND the English community .... including an Anglican church not far from where I live. The Canadian media is pushing this "extreme right wing" angle to the story today .... but it is not that. We are both old enough to know that Quebec has a long and ugly history of nationalism that has caused great harm to this province since the FLQ crisis in 1970 .... and it is coming back .... festering and growing in the past few years as Canada permits more immigrants to settle in this country. In certain ways Quebec's nationalists remind me of today's Ukrainian nationalists .... their xenophobic and intolerant behavior disgusts me .... and what scares me is that in both countries their support base is far greater than what is acknowledged.
ReplyDeleteIn the coming days there will be a great outpouring of sympathy from Quebecers and Canadians on what has happened .... and deservedly so. But I have lived here long enough to know that in many homes of this province there are many who wish that all Quebecers who are not white and French are kicked out of this province .... whether through rigid language laws, laws targeting certain religious and/or cultural minorities, or discrimination in the workplace.
" But I have lived here long enough to know that in many homes of this province there are many who wish that all Quebecers who are not white and French are kicked out of this province .... "
DeleteThe problem is "white French speakers" don't want to move to Quebec, and in fact, Quebec is bleeding Quebeqois.
With out a major change against racism, in a few decades, the last Bloc member can look longingly at his Paul Rose poster, before turning off the lights, moving to Toronto, and leaving the Province up to the Cree, Algonquins, Hurons, Mohawks and Innu.
