Marine Times: Male and female infantry Marines to share tents in the field

The first female infantry Marines will share fighting holes and tents with male Marines during field exercises.

“We’re not changing any of our tactical posture or breaking unit cohesion or adjusting anything to accommodate mixed genders while we’re operating in a field environment replicating tactical conditions,” said Maj. Charles Anklam III, executive officer for 1st Battalion, 8th Marines at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

On Jan. 5, the battalion received three female infantry Marines: a rifleman, machine gunner and mortar Marine. Whenever the Marines are in the field, they will live, train and fight with their unit, Anklam told Marine Corps Times.

  4. Back when I was a newly minted section Commander they put a woman in my section, they put one woman in each of the sections of my platoon, it was a disaster. The guys brains shut down, the women used their tricks to get the guys to do their work, on one occasion as we were going in to a hide for the night, I looked back and the female had her helmet off swinging it like a purse with a guy on each side of her, one carrying her rifle the other carrying her webbing, like they were walking down the hall in high school, instead of being tactical, needless to say I lost it, one of the other section commanders had similar problems, and the third section commander ended up dating the female in his section. The female officer in charge of this BS, tried to have me charged for use of foul language, I wasn't charged but they transferred her out of my section, they never put another one with me.

  5. Nothing like being out to sea using infrared and catching couples at work.

Sure mixing it up is a good idea.

  6. Supposedly the Norwegian army is going down to 2 brigades.

A brigade has 3,000 give or take a thou.

So JabberJay thinks it is a good idea of basing a decision on a 1 off social experiment of 4,000 to 8,000 people at the ends of the earth.

The Norwegian army is not even a real army. Would the Russian even consider them a speed bump or traffic cops?

  9. Jay appears to REALLY, REALLY not like Americans very much. If this is the typical Canadian attitude toward America and Americans, our situation is even more dire than I think it is.

Perhaps this approach can work in a small country where the troops are either family members or close associates who come from the same communities and are stationed close to home. I think Israel may use something like this and it works for them.

The same thing as TWN describes would likely happen to US personnel as well. Also, add in the fact that US forces are spread all over the world in a number of God forsaken h!ll holes, morale is low, the troops don't have the close bonds that people from the same communities or families would, training is often substandard as corners have to be cut to keep this force in operation, and American men are taught at an early age to protect women which they would try and do at the expense of the mission (not sure how they are taught in other countries).

As stated, what could possibly go wrong?!? Quite a bit could actually. This type of policy is not good for either the men or the women as it puts both of them both in more danger and compromises the ability of the mission to be accomplished.

  10. PC blinkered thinking that will end in disaster, be reviewed, and then go back to how it used to be and how it always was.
