BBC: Yemen al-Qaeda: US commandos raid stronghold

The US has carried out a commando raid on an al-Qaeda stronghold in central Yemen, killing 14 militants, the military says.
One US soldier died and three were injured.

Several Apache helicopters were reported to have taken part in the operation in al-Baida province.

Three al-Qaeda leaders were among those killed in a battle lasting 45 minutes in a village in Yakla district. Earlier reports suggested a higher death toll.

US drones have carried out periodic attacks on al-Qaeda in Yemen.

Local sources earlier said 41 militants and 16 civilians were killed.

A provincial official said the helicopters targeted a hospital, school and mosque.

WNU Editor: According to the BBC .... they are quoting local sources that a mosque and school were targeted, and that civilians were killed during the raid. If true .... this confirms my suspicions that Trump administration will be changing the rules of engagement when it comes to targeting Al Qaeda/Taliban/ISIS leaders who use human shields and/or mosques/schools/hospitals for protection.

  1. The usual suspects will get their tutus in a knot, since a hospital, school and mosque.

This is no different than if someone hits you, break your nose and then clings to their mommy's skirt. It will look bad if you hit them back.

Your average Muslim fighter knows what jerks Leftists/liberals are. They know that if for example Hezbollah builds a underground command post and then a school over the top of it that Israel will get tagged with attacking a school and the fact that there was military assets underneath the school will be buried in the news story or reported not at all.

Hezbollah will set up a artillery in a UN observer post in south Lebanon fire on Israel knowing that the Israelis will not fire on an UN observer post.

It is old news that Al Qaeda or Hamas will use schools, mosques or hospitals as command posts, fighting positions or ammo depots.

For all that the usual suspects will come out of the woodwork.

  2. why, alonzo, must you stick in a snarky remark about liberals? I am a very very liberal guy and I have long known how Hezbollah and Hamas operates...Time perhaps to clean out your bias and stick to posting a comment sans bias against liberals.
that said, I noted somewhere that our forces took two hostages away, according to Yemeni sources, but that American officials denied this.
