Two More Trump Advisers Talked With The Russian Ambassador During Last Year's Election Campaign

USA Today: Exclusive: Two other Trump advisers also spoke with Russian envoy during GOP convention

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is not the only member of President Trump’s campaign who spoke to Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak at a diplomacy conference connected to the Republican National Convention in July. At least two more members of the Trump campaign’s national security officials also spoke with Kislyak at the event, and several more Trump national security advisers were in attendance.

It's unknown what the Trump campaign officials who spoke with the ambassador – J.D. Gordon and Carter Page – discussed with him. Those who took part in the events in Cleveland said it is not unusual for presidential campaign teams to interact with diplomats.

However, the newly-revealed communications further contradict months of repeated denials by Trump officials that his campaign had contact with officials representing the Russian government.

WNU Editor: As predicted .... this story is not going to die. I guess the message is now out .... any talk with Russian diplomats implies that you are working with them to undermine your political opponents. This is getting ridiculous.

Update: Jared Kushner .... President Trump's son-in-law and adviser also met the Russian Ambassador .... Kushner, Flynn met with Russian ambassador during transition (The Hill).

"This is getting ridiculous." Actually it's getting way beyond ridiculous. Some petty people just can't seem to accept reality and are even willing to place Americans in grave danger for their own political agenda or so it seems.

If we can't talk with Russian diplomats, how can we work constructively to end Cold War II? In that sense, such a talk could be perhaps said to be undermining one's political opponents. After all team Clinton actively worked to recklessly stoke tension with Russia and for no good reason. So of course one would work to actively undermine such people.

An expanded Cold War would not serve anyone's interests. As such, efforts to end it, should be strongly encouraged and not undermined. I can't help but be concerned that months of careful diplomacy may have been undermined by small minded petty thugs.

LMAO,

Watergate started like this, lies and little improprieties over what should have been trivial things, but for the lies, denials and petty cover ups, bringing down the Nixon Appointee's blocking/stalling/covering up the fire at the heart of the matter.

Session's could have just apologized and recused himself when the story broke, now, pressure will mount for him to resign.

He will.

Then it will be Comey and the FBI's turn, followed by the House and Senate Chairs.

Jay,

For having contacts with Russian officials would really seem like nothing he needs to apologize for. There's really nothing funny about any of this. It would perhaps be a shame if Mr. Sessions were forced to resign, however, petty people must have their Cold War with Russia. Such people are like little children playing with fire under the bed.

Of course Canada will be unscathed. It is America who will bear the brunt of any reprisals as the result of this. Hence you find it amusing. Given that you seen to bear a special hatred for America and it's people you'd probably enjoying seeing them harmed and would celebrate such a thing. As such, this all an amusing little game to you.

As for the American people, they want Cold War II ended and ended NOW. Such petty efforts to undermine careful diplomacy are most unhelpful to say the least.

It seems we know so far that Mr. Trump's son was paid $50,000 for a speech at a pro-Russian group. This seems nothing unusual as big name people are often paid large sums to do speeches. The fact that the group thought highly enough of him to invite him is a good sign. Meetings such as this will help the diplomatic process that hopefully can lead to a path to end Cold War II. In order to do this, we will need to have people the Russians can trust and respect. It would seem that paying this fee would be a small sum to pay for such potential and if Mr. Trump's son made some money off of this I don't see a problem with this.

Now if we can end Cold War II and reinstate the half billion dollar oil deal that Exxon Mobil reached with Russia that was wrecked when some reckless idiots thought it would be a good idea to place sanctions on Russia over Ukraine. This would be good for both countries. If DJT Jr. wants to make some money off of the diplomatic process and the Russians deem it worthy of paying this to him this would seem to be a good investment. People should be compensated for jobs well done.

Ending Cold War II would be a job well done for everyone and such diplomacy should be encouraged and not condemned. To want a new Cold War and especially for petty political reasons is a special kind of insane. Such people need to be eliminated and the sooner the better.

1) It's not illegal for US Citizens to have "discussions" with a Foreign Government about US Government policy.

2) It is illegal, for a US Citizen to engage in "negotiations" with a Foreign Government about US Policy, with out the express permission of the US Government. It's called Treason.

3) It's not illegal for members of a US Political Campaign to engage in "discussions" with a Foreign Government, but it is "unethical", and leads to questions of Foreign Influence and Foreign Interference in an election,

More so when the Foreign Government is acticely interfering in the election and the Presidential Cantidate publically asks that Foreign Government to interfere.

4). It is illegal for members of a Political Campaign to "negotiate" with a Foreign Government about US Policy, with out the express permission of the US Government. It's called Treason.

More so when that Foreign Government is interfering in the election and the Presidential Cantidate is asking that Foreign Government to interfere on his behalf.

Session and Flynt lied under oath to Congress about their contacts.

Were they "discussions" or were they "negotiations"?

Inquiring minds want to know.

What exactly was Jared paid $50,000 for plus a fully comped trip to France, by a shadowy Russian Funded "Secret Think Tank".

It would be rude not to speculate.

Hair Furour self funded much of his Presidential Campaign with questionable loans from the Trump Organization. Given the Trump Organization's reliance on shadowy and questionable loans and deals with Putin associated Russian and Ukrainian Ogliarches,

( btw, it's illegal to take Foreign Money for a US Election Campaign),

How much of the Trump Campaign's expenses were covered from Trump's personal money, and how much of it was Putin's?

LMFAO.

Jay,

The closer Putins and the Trumps are the better actually. Having leaders they trust and are wiling to work with would be extremely helpful. This gives us a better chance of ending Cold War II that we can't afford, can't effdctively prosdcute, and may not even be able to win.

I understand all that you wrote about what is legal and illegal. So far you are presenting allot of speculation without any evidence other than the speculation of othef commentators reinforcing the speculation. If there was sonething illegal done and the media with all the time and energy spent investigating team Trump can't unearth it they must be grossly incompetent or no such evidence exists. To top this off, even if something illegal was done to try and cultivate the necessary ties to Russia such a person actually acted in America's best interests.

Now which idiot thought it would be a swell idea to pkace sanctions on Russia over Ukraine. It seems this is what we really need to be investigating and posdibly prosecuting such an idiot.

LMFAO,

The question now has become "how much" is Trump's "softness" on Russia and Putin, "politics", and how much is "pay for play"?

Should the Presidency of the United States of America, be up for sale to the highest Foreign Bidder?

Had they know that the POTUS was up for sale, the Saudi's Salman would have out bid Putin, and China's Xi would have outbid all comers.

LMFAO.

Jay,

We need to end Cold War II. If money has to exchange hands somewhere to make this happen, this is how things get done. People want things done. Someone gets paid. If it's illegal, everyone would have to be arrested.

As I recall, there were a number of such allegations against the Clintons. No one in the media seemed particularly concerned.

The Saudis and the Chinese certainly try to influence America. Ametica tries to influence them. As for China, the rhetoric has been heated. Clearly team Trump is going to need to climb down. As for Saudi Arabia, treatnent has always been "kid glove." We needed tbeir cooperation more than they needed to cooperate with us. With the advent of frackkng this could be changing but inertia likely means it may take awhile.

So far, DJT's Russia policy has been experential common sense. In other words nothing has been done to undermine legitimate American interests unless soneone wants Cold War II. If someone does, they need to present a very good reason. So far none has been presented that I'm aware of and evidence of actual wrongdoing and underming American interests on the part of POTUS will need to be presented. So far it hasn't. The media is supposed to be acting as a watchdog. To say they've undermined their credibility is an understatement.
