British Intelligence Did Monitor The Trump Campaign And They Did Alert U.S. Intelligence

The Guardian: British spies were first to spot Trump team's links with Russia

Exclusive: GCHQ is said to have alerted US agencies after becoming aware of contacts in 2015

Britain’s spy agencies played a crucial role in alerting their counterparts in Washington to contacts between members of Donald Trump’s campaign team and Russian intelligence operatives, the Guardian has been told.

GCHQ first became aware in late 2015 of suspicious “interactions” between figures connected to Trump and known or suspected Russian agents, a source close to UK intelligence said. This intelligence was passed to the US as part of a routine exchange of information, they added.

Over the next six months, until summer 2016, a number of western agencies shared further information on contacts between Trump’s inner circle and Russians, sources said.

WNU Editor: What a difference a month makes .... when the Trump administration made the claim that British intelligence was spying on the Trump election team No White House Apology On Claim That British Intelligence Monitored Then Candidate Trump (March 17, 2017) .... they were condemned by the main stream media and British authorities for making it (including British Prime Minister May). Fast forward to today .... we now know that the story is probably true (surprise surprise). And the only reason why it is being reported as the truth is because in the eyes of the Guardian .... even though everyone denied last month that the GHCQ was spying on the Trump team, it is now convenient to say that yes .... the GCHQ did spy on the Trump team .... and it is a good thing that they did because they have uncovered evidence of Trump - Russian collusion. As to what did they actually find .... what first caught my attention in this Guardian report was this ....

.... According to one account, GCHQ’s then head, Robert Hannigan, passed material in summer 2016 to the CIA chief, John Brennan. The matter was deemed so sensitive it was handled at “director level”. After an initially slow start, Brennan used GCHQ information and intelligence from other partners to launch a major inter-agency investigation.

In late August and September Brennan gave a series of classified briefings to the Gang of Eight, the top-ranking Democratic and Republican leaders in the House and Senate. He told them the agency had evidence the Kremlin might be trying to help Trump to win the presidency, the New York Times reported.

If true .... and the Guardian obviously believes that it is .... it inconveniently validates this report that was posted last month .... How John Brennan and Some Brits Tried to Tip the Election to Hillary ( George Neumayr, Spectator). CIA Director John Brennan handling intel on the opposing candidate during a Presidential election .... my God .... talk about an incredibly juicy story to pursue.

But that is not what the Guardian wants us to focus on .... on no .... the bombshell that it pushing is the last paragraph of its post  ....

.... One source suggested the official [American] investigation was making progress. “They now have specific concrete and corroborative evidence of collusion,” the source said. “This is between people in the Trump campaign and agents of [Russian] influence relating to the use of hacked material.

No mention on who this anonymous source is .... but if true .... the Trump team working with Russian intel to release hacked emails .... WOW .... impeachment of the US president would be the end result. But .... that is where (conveniently) the Guardian article ends. My prediction .... unless this anonymous source goes public ....and with evidence .... dreams of impeaching President Trump will be just that .... a dream.  But British intelligence spying on the Trump team .... now that is a story that just gets better with each passing week.

Update: British allegations on President Trump's ties to Russia (with no evidence provided) are continuing .... Ex-MI6 chief says Donald Trump may have borrowed money from Russia to keep his empire afloat (Mirror).

Update #2: And he was suspended last month by FOX News for saying exactly this .... CNN Confirms Fox's Napolitano - British Intelligence Passed On Trump Surveillance To US Spy Agency (Zero Hedge).

Update #3: One has to wonder how many other countries were involved. Canada? Australia? European states? etc..

  1. False, fox claimed that president Obama went outside his "chain of command " and had the British spy on Mr. Trump. Real story. British spying on Russians hear Trump people talking to Russians. Tell American intel buddies. American intel starts to do its job. Therefore Trump people under investigation. Not American intel spying on Trump people for political reasons and then catching them talking to the Russians. You can't flip the narrative .

You are not appreciating how much the media narrative has changed from last month to today.
From .... we did not do such a thing.
To .... yeah we did .... but it is OK.
I am not flipping the narrative .... it is the media that has flipped.

  3. Well I may have to change my mind. If the Brits say it might be true then it might be true. It is to be "suggested" that the "specific concrete and corroborative evidence of collusion" be shown, wait it's secret and it might show "means and methods", to the unwashed. They're going to have to get a new Rogets for synonyms to might, suggested, etc.
Wow, "director level" I am impressed.
    WNU,
In answer to your Update#3 question; " One has to wonder how many other countries were involved. Canada? Australia? European states? etc.."
Somewhere in the dense warrens of Kinshasha, an ex-security official of the DRC remembers that someone high up may have told him that they had concrete information and evidence that Trump used a Limo with fat doors. Unable to provide anything further he returned to his voodoo doll business dreaming of the day of an Aruba retirement.
Ah, dreams. Powerful stuff aren't they!
