RT: Putin: 755 US diplomats to depart Russia, time to show we won’t leave anything unanswered
More than 750 American diplomats will have to leave Russia as a result of Washington's own policies, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said in an exclusive interview with the Rossiya 1 TV channel.
"The American side has made a move which, it is important to note, hasn't been provoked by anything, to worsen Russian-US relations. [It includes] unlawful restrictions, attempts to influence other states of the world, including our allies, who are interested in developing and keeping relations with Russia," Putin told channel host, Vladimir Solovyov, Sunday.
"We've been waiting for quite a long time that maybe something would change for the better, we had hopes that the situation would change. But it looks like, it's not going to change in the near future... I decided that it is time for us to show that we will not leave anything unanswered," the Russian president added.

WNU Editor: When Russia declared a few days ago that the U.S. must cut its diplomatic staff in Russia to meet the same numbers of Russian diplomats in the U.S. .... with the exception of Reuters no one bothered to check-out how many diplomats were involved until Russian President Putin himself said today that 755 US diplomats must leave. In the past I knew that the U.S. diplomatic presence in Russia was big .... but I will admit that I am shocked that the number is this big. I cannot recollect any time in the past when this many U.S. diplomats were told to leave. As to when must these diplomats leave .... I am hearing on Russian news that they must leave by September 1.

Most of that will be made up of support staff. I wonder how many senior staffers are among that number.
Once again a US Embassy with an efficiently sized staff. Thanks Mr Putin for cutting the fat.
Rexxon might actually get some of thousand plus Staff vacancies at State finally filled.
BTW jim brown,
The US has one Embassy in Russia, ( Moscow). and 3 Consulates.
In addition, it has stafff in 24 different State to State joint projects, from Verification to Crime Cooperation.

That is one way to drain the swamp.
I think Putin, like most sane and rational people, had hoped that some form of detente would occur between US and RU. Clearly that has not happened, and clearly the Russians have lost patience with the daily Russian collusion gong show. Hopefully sanity will prevail but its not looking good right now.
I have not like events in Russian since BP blew up.

You read about that and it is looking like slow motion train wreck like Erdogan.
If you read about Erdogan in 199 when he became mayor of Istanbul in 199 or so, you know that it would not end well.
Likewise after Russia crawled out of the hard times of the 1990s things looked hopeful for a while and then they soured. Another slow motion train wreck.
Add to it the Medeyev was a young turk reformer and then he got threatened or suborned and now he is Putin's toady. Yes, hope ended.
Just the same ole same ole.
As for Putin, a European once told me "Once KGB, always KGB"
Putin does meet the requirements for being sane and rationalizing
Sane is form the Latin Sanus meaning health. Putin is healthy
He is rational or rationalizing in terms of in group / out group morality, which is genetic.
There is a genetic basis for morality. It is coded. It is also loose; it has wiggle room. You can decide who is the in group and who is the out group.
So Putin is sane, rational or rationalizing, moral and admirable.
Many in the west admire him, because he does not appear weak and is not anti-"West" or anti-white.

Well at least they did not strand out astronauts ... yet.
ejmohr,
You have pretty much nailed it. I couldn't have put this any better myself.
Either the entire US government has gone bat sh!t crazy or they are so deathly afraid of the Clintons that they must support her narrative at any cost. Either way not good.
As I understand it, Mr. Trump hasn't signed the bill yet. Perhaps he will find the courage and morals to do the right thing and veto it or refuse to sign it. While Congress would overrride the veto and perhaps might even impeach POTUS over this, the Russians and their leaders would likely appreciate such honor and integrity and might even help us with Iran and North Korea.
In any event, affixing one's signature to sonething as amoral as sanctions against Russia over Ukraine or the myth of Russian intereference in the US election would be a bad idea. Perhaps POTUS has some honor and decency. There's little cause for optimism though but hope springs eternal!!

… The thing is, the Senate can only consider one budget reconciliation bill per topic per year. Of course, if the bill dies in committee and never comes to an official vote, it doesn’t count- which is why they’ve been able to keep hammering away at the issue.
This bill, though, was allowed to come to the Senate floor, because the Republicans thought they’d secured the votes. Collins, Murkowski and the Democrats would vote no, everyone else would vote yes, and Pence would break the tie. And then McCain completely fucked them. And it was almost certainly a calculated move; he voted to allow the bill to come to the floor. Had McCain allowed it to die in committee, McConnell could have come back with yet another repeal bill; but he let it come to a vote, and now they can’t consider another budget reconciliation bill for the rest of the fiscal year. The Senate needs 60 votes to pass any kind of healthcare reform now. …"

Warren Kinsella .... now that is a blast from the past.
The Paul Martin - Jean Chretien wars .... Gomery Commission .... and the implosion of the Liberal Party that put them in the wilderness for a decade.
I am surprised that he is still around .... but then again .... people like him will always be around.
Kinsella's just posting a chunk from the Murdoch owned Wall Street Journal to get around the pay wall,
The piece was written by Ronald Reagan's Pearl Necklace Clutcher Peggy Noonan,
BTW, Kinsella was involved in Obama's Campaign, Hillary's, Martin's, Ignateff's, Rae's and Trudeau's, along with some of the Liberal Party alligned Provincial Liberal Party campaigns, as a Paid Consultant.
In his spare time, he continues the good fight against the Nazi's in Toronto.
McCain will never be voted into office as senator again.
That is not saying much, since he will likely die in office of cancer like the waitress molester Ted Kennedy of Senatorial Sandwich Fame (See Senator Dodd too & La Brasserie). McCain will go down as one of those people, who left office after the capitol police or janitorial staff pry his cold dead hands from his senate office desk.
That last is a take-off on "You can have my gun, when you pry my cold dead hands from it"
It just shows how incredibly vain McCain is. A lot if not most politicians are, but McCain is now pushing the envelope.
If things go better and they probably will not and if all the oxygen is not sucked out of the room, McCain will be face a recall vote in the middle of his senate term.
McCain' stock has been low since the middle of 2008.
Then there was his pal-ing around with jihadis
John McCain Chooses Jihad; Yells at Syrian Christians
There is a very nice picture of McSHAME at the link above.
If McShame did not have incumbency, name recognition, 1/2 aware voters, and money, he would have been gone long ago.
