China Colonel Warns India: 'If You Don't Want War, Get Out Of Chinese Territory,'

Shanghaiist: WATCH: 'If you don't want war, get out of Chinese territory,' China colonel warns India

As the standoff between India and China continues in the disputed border region of Doklam, a heated exchange on a Chinese TV news show has gone viral, providing a nice encapsulation of the thinking on both sides of the dispute.

In a debate show on CGTN, the English-language arm of China Central Television (CCTV), a retired Indian Army major general, Ashok Mehta, squared off against Chinese Ministry of National Defense Senior Colonel Zhou Bo. Mehta started things out by accusing Chinese state media of inflaming tensions by writing the "most aggressive, most belligerent" stories and making threats about taking India to war.
About a minute in, Zhou becomes tired of listening to Mehta speak, interjecting: "The point is, you are on Chinese territory."

WNU Editor: China is in a quandary on this one. They have border disputes with everyone of their neighbours, and backing down now would be a signal to everyone else that China can be pushed backed. They Chinese media's message has also made it difficult for China to settle this dispute. The media message has been the same since day one .... that China is morally and legally right in this dispute and that India is the aggressor. If they should back down now .... just a month away from the Chinese Communist  Party Congress .... the Chinese government will be losing "a lot of face in" front of its own people. My prediction .... China is going to escalate this dispute big time .... and they will so do by building up their military forces in this region. After that .... we shall see.

  1. 2-3 years ago we all were "oh China has this grand strategy" and blab lala

    Look at them

    Disputes with all their neighbours
Some disputes could end up in war

A war with India could decimate China ..especially if the neighbours gang up on you

    Great grand strategy lol

    1. Oh and at the same time:

      - PR nightmare with Hong Kong and a publicly broken promise

      - potential trade war with US

      - the need to block internet to many outside places...ban of VPNs etc

      - threatening war with Vietnam over oil drilling ..do you think the Vietnamese will forget this?

  2. - North Korea publicly embarrassing China. .a country that hates losing face

    - trump bombing Syria over dinner with Xi and only telling him after (leaving him in dark in front of cameres, exposing their lack of knowledge)

  3. I think all of these mistakes and public relations issues are -forcing- China to take action soon to not appear as a paper tiger

China certainly doesn't want to punch above its weight and get embarrassed. In their first war of choosing they need to slap around a smaller enemy. Not India.

China may have to invade north Korea to avoid Americans to do the same and install a US friendly regime (in cooperation with south Korea)... a missed opportunity for the Chinese. ..they couldn't decide what to do and thought that by supplying mobile launch platforms to north Korea they could force the Americans to stay out (as it will require boots on the ground to get all of these mobile launch systems)...

Problem is: don't be a paper tiger and call Americans to show if they got balls. If Americans got one thing it's balls. I can guarantee you that if Americans have a choice between a nuclear armed north Korea credibly threatening the US and no north Korea, it's not even a choice at all...

China needs to start a war with a country that has no international backing or sympathies. It can't be Vietnam. .too popular internationally and there would be a massive outcry (due to previous unjustified Vietnam war)..can't be Japan because they are too strong and backed by Americans ..can't be Philippines ..can't be India. ..it's got to be north Korea. ..that's the only country where they could show and test their weaponry and armies without the risk of the international community siding with the "enemy".. Plus they can avoid American influence which they are afraid of more than losing a few dozens thousand soldiers

      Lol
It's funny because it is true. The Chinese, and Asians in general, are extremely cautious. But Westerners, especially Yanks, became number one by ballsy decisions. Boldness is needed for world leadership, the Chinese aint got it I'm afraid.

  4. The unbelievable of that is Chinese's are smart people...and they put themselves in a bad position. What if China make a war with India and America choose this time frame to make a war with North Korea and be very assertiveness in South China Sea? I must be very stupid for not understanding that.

  5. Ja - when you say "Chinese are smart people" you give them a bit more credit than they deserve. Illiteracy is rampant. I studied with Chinese at a very famous university and they were at the bottom of the class. Failure to think creatively and independently is what held them back.
Having said that, I do respect many Chinese. I am friends with a handful. Those who grew up in the west or were exposed to a good education early on are indeed bright. But that's the elite in China. It's an easy life for most middle class/upper class Chinese on the backs of the poor factory workers. But don't say Chinese are bright. .you clearly haven't met the Chinese tourist yet haha. .Chinese tourists in Asia are despised by everyone for their vulgarity. .peeing in the streets. .coming in Bus loads and just to go to a restaurant and taking selfies quickly them driving to next restaurant. .incredible sights. .. that's 80% of China. .. the leadership is indeed will educated and just as smart as in any other country. .but I'd rank the average Chinese at the bottom of the barrel

Err, so.. pretty much like any other tourist then. Brits. Europeans. Take ya pick. They all take selfies, they all pee in streets. Yeah.

Gratz for winning the idiot of the month award!

    1. Thanks, buddy..I'll share it with you..same name and all ;)

If you honestly think great Britain is still great you haven't paid attention the last 30 years. ...by the way. .I lived in England and different places in Asia and Europe so allow me to say that the Chinese tourist is a different beast than the partying British tourists in Spain(where I also lived ) ..way different. ..and finally allow me to conclude you're just as uniformed about the world as your comment suggests
