This Saudi Prince Just Paid $1 Billion To Be Set Free

BBC: Saudi anti-corruption drive: Prince Miteb freed 'after $1bn deal'

Saudi Prince Miteb bin Abdullah has been released more than three weeks after he was detained on allegations of corruption, officials have said.

Prince Miteb, once seen as a contender to the throne, was freed after agreeing an "acceptable settlement" with authorities of more than $1bn (£750m).

He was one of more than 200 princes, ministers and businessmen detained in an anti-corruption drive on 4 November.

At least three others have also agreed settlements, the officials said.

"Yes, Prince Miteb was released this morning [Tuesday]," a source close to the government told the Agence France-Presse news agency.

The prince has so far not commented, and it was not clear whether he was now able to move freely or whether he was under some form of house arrest.

  1. Not yet.

The Saudi "system" ran on a tribal and "lesser" tribal system of power, responsibility and patronage, based on nepotism.

Over the coming months,Abduallah's going to have lots of chances to make "common cause" with members of his patronage chain who have been cut off, and other Princes and Royal's who's own patronage chains have been seized by The Little Prince.

  2. How many billions does he have left? For now, probably many more. This was chump change. The big price will come later and not much later. Not only will these princes be overthrown but the mastermind of this will be as well.

In late 2013, I predicted the Saudi government would be overthrown by the end of 2016. While I was off a bit, it appears I wasn't that far off. All Saudi officials and their familes should flee now, leave all wealth behind, and turn over their wealth outside of the countty to Iranian and/or Russian officials. Perhaps they will be allowed to live.

When in a hole, the best approach is STOP DIGGING!! As I predicted in late 2013, Saudi officials aren't bright enough to figure this out. That prediction still stands. Revised prediction on the fall of the Saudi royals is mid 2018.

In any event, it'd be unwise in the extreme for anyone to ally with them or to support them in any way. At least we have fracking now. We don't really need them now!! If America makes good decisions in this area, we could be a major world power, perhaps even the world's dominant power.
