FOX News: H.R. McMaster: Potential for war with North Korea increases ‘every day’
H.R. McMaster, President Trump’s national security adviser, said Saturday that the possibility of war with North Korea increases every day the problem over its nuclear program isn’t solved.
“I think it’s increasing every day,” McMaster told Fox News’ Bret Baier at the Reagan National Security Forum in California. “It means we’re in a race. We’re in a race to be able to solve this problem.”
Added McMaster: “There are ways to address this problem short of armed conflict, but it is a race because he’s getting closer and closer and there’s not much time left.”
Last week, North Korea fired its highest-ever intercontinental ballistic missile, flying 1,000 miles higher than during its first ICBM launch in July.
McMaster told Baier that North Korea dictator Kim Jong Un’s nuclear ambitions are the gravest national security threat that America faces.

Update: McMaster: Potential of war with North Korea 'increasing every day' (The Hill).
WNU Editor: National security adviser H.R. McMaster is also dismissing reports that the latest North Korean missile test broke up during re-entry .... H.R. McMaster brushes off reports that North Korea ICBM broke up (Washington Examiner).
Of course it didn't "break up." General McMaster is wise to dismiss such reports. The next step would be to dismiss such reports out of hand, fire the purveyors of such nonsense, and revoke their pensions forthwith.
ReplyDeleteThe world's top powers of Russia and China are approaching the problem from the wrong direction. For the North Korean problem to be solved, Americans need to feel safe. Until this happens, resolution is not possible.
North Korea counts as allies Russia and China. Additionally it has friends like Iran and Venezuela as well as a vast network of support the world over. What does America have to counter this? Western Europe, the chump Ukraine, former Soviet Republics, or whatever. All have negative utility and stand ready to betray Ametica for well, sheer fun!!
When reality is grasped, proper decision making becomes possible. Failure to grasp reality generally never ends well.

ReplyDeleteYou nailed it on Russia and China approaching the North Korean problem wrong.
Both China and Russia are aware of U.S. security concerns, but to them it is not a priority to them. This is a massive strategic mistake .... and I have no explanation on why they are lax in their current approach on North Korea.
