...peace treaty with Israel. We have taken Jerusalem, the toughest part of the negotiation, off the table, but Israel, for that, would have had to pay more. But with the Palestinians no longer willing to talk peace, why should we make any of these massive future payments to them?— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 2, 2018
USA Today: Trump questions U.S. aid to Palestinian Authority without peace talks
WASHINGTON — President Trump questioned why the U.S. should pay the Palestinian Authority "hundreds of millions of dollars a year" as peace talks continue to stall, just weeks after he announced a controversial plan to move the American embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

If Trump will be credited for one thing it is that leaders around the world will no longer see the US as a piggy bank that will support all kinds of causes. The power vacuum (or should I say dollar vacuum), will of course be exploited. But then again, I think you get more by investing a bit into your own economy and reducing overseas spending to really where it makes sense from a strategic point of view. If you do not get what you want for the dollars you spend, reduce spending, see what happens. If it works, do more of it, but always know that China and Russia will try to exploit it where they can (and they have all right to do so.. investing is free to all..those that invest smartly, will win)
ReplyDeletePalestinians have no other home outside Palestine, With land occupied, crops destroyed and low salaries they depends on foreign aid, but if someone want to use that money forcing a people to accept what they consider unacceptable, nothing strange if they refuse.
