Reuters: Syrian rebels say downed Russian jet, captured pilot: sources
AMMAN (Reuters) - Syrian rebels said on Saturday they had brought down a Russian warplane in an area of northern Syria’s Idlib province that has seen heavy air strikes, and two rebel sources said they had captured the pilot who was badly injured.
A rebel source said the Sukhoi plane was shot down over Khan al-Subl town near the city of Saraqeb, close to a major highway that has come under fierce air attack, where the Syrian army and Iranian-backed militias are trying to advance on the ground.
Two rebel sources said the pilot was badly injured after escaping the crash by parachute. A third rebel source said he was killed. There was no immediate comment from the Russian or Syrian armies.

Well he's got a family back home my sympathies to them.
It's war, I probably had done the same thing as the pilot did, chances he would end up dead by beheading or such is high for any pilot of any nation that is shot down in that region.
Ironically, on the same day the SAA seized the village of Tal Tuqan where the Russian Mi8 was shot down a few years back...the rebels are in trouble, the fortification of Saraqib has begun.

The SAA want the M5, a direct route to Aleppo. They are tired of the work around and they have taken care of other stuff.
Saraqib is a foregone collusion. Just negotiating price now.
Not sure which will come first, securing the M-5 or lifting the siege of Foua...I'm guessing they will come slamming into the eastern flank of Saraqib then bounce north to relieve Foua. Either way the FSA will be begging to get their fighters back from the Efrin front.
