The FBI Is In A Public Fight With The White House On The Release Of The Nunes Memo

L.A. Times: FBI and White House in open conflict over classified GOP memo

In an extraordinary public break with the White House, the FBI warned Wednesday that it has "grave concerns" about the accuracy of a disputed Republican memo on secret surveillance during the 2016 campaign that President Trump has promised to release.

The FBI said it only had a "limited opportunity" to review the classified four-page memo prepared by aides to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Tulare), a close Trump ally who chairs the House Intelligence Committee.

"As expressed during our initial review, we have grave concerns about material omissions of fact that fundamentally impact the memo's accuracy," the nation's premier law enforcement agency said in a two-paragraph statement.

WNU Editor: The opposition to release this video is truly amazing. One .... to begin there are many who are saying that there are major omissions that fundamentally impact the memo’s accuracy. OK .... when this memo is finally made public please point out those omissions. Anyone willing to bet that no one is going to step up and point out what those omissions are. It gets even better. The FBI Director read the memo over the weekend, and did not raise any national security concerns. So why the uproar from the FBI/Justuce Department now? And as for reports that sources and methods will be revealed, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) says that the memo only reveals one source .... any bets that it is Christopher Steele, the former UK intelligence officer who was paid by the Clinton campaign to write up a dossier that started this entire controversy. As I said .... the move to block this memo from the Democrats/FBI/Justice Department/many in the media/and some Republicans is a sight to see. As for what is my position .... I have always been very clear. Considering how all of this has dominated the headlines and politics for the past year, the American public has a right to know. Release the memo, and follow up with more.

  2. Anon,

WNU editor admits in light bias all the time. Whats important is that he provides a cogent/sound argument and doesn't just emotionally shout at or attack people with opposing views and respects others. This is very conservative of him.

  3. 2 words: Check and Balances

Too much power has been given to the FBI and it is time to see what this brings to the American people. Releasing the memo is the only way. The FBI does not want to release it because it will expose the skeleton in the closet and a lot of people will be fired including the senior top level agents.

It is time to drain the swamp. This is not about dems and republicans. FBI serves the people. Not the other way around.

  4. THis could mean the end of the FBI as we have known it. That would be a good thing, finally burying the long rotting corpse of J. Edgar Hoover.

  6. We need to re-release the memo to overcome Democrat Donkey spin.

They say the memo was 'changed'.

Good, re-release it without the spelling and grammar corrections.

That way the public can see that the top level FBI officials are grammatically challenged as well as being corrupt.

(i.e. high school and college English was a waste of time for the upper level FBI officials)

Then a month or so after that we can release it without any redaction.

We can keep this in the news a long time and fashion something out of the spin, the rope that the Democrat Donkeys gave us.

  7. Anonymous,

"You are too biased just like nunes"

You release that you did this tom yourself.

We are no going to release this memo 3 times and keep it in the news cycle thought the spring and summer.

Keep on saying the memo was changed like the Democrat Donkeys are saying.

Then it will be re-released without corrections for spelling. I guarantee you that if the composition is really bad, recent and ancient college grads will ask themselves how those FBI people make so much money when they are obviously grammatically or otherwise challenged.

Keep on saying it. I know that you will and thus will give generously.

    ;)
