France Offers To Mediate Turkey-Kurdish SDF Talks, Turkey Warns France Could Become A 'Target' For Backing The Kurds

BBC: Syria war: France offers to mediate between Turkey and Kurds

France has offered to mediate in the conflict in northern Syria, where Turkey launched a military offensive against Kurdish fighters in January.

Ankara is battling to drive out the Kurdish YPG militia, which it sees as an extension of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

The French offer was swiftly dismissed by a Turkish presidential spokesman.

Ibrahim Kalin said countries should instead take a "clear stance against all types of terrorism".

Separately on Friday, Turkey said five soldiers were killed and seven wounded in an attack by the PKK in the south-eastern province of Siirt.

  1. Erdogan is going to press his luck one time to many and his military are going to suffer for it. The Russians found that out last month, this is not Obama in office and if you mess with us, there will be a price to pay for him. IMHO.

  4. Erdogan may very will kill many Kurds including the majority of them.

That does not mean he will not miscalculate.

Clinton did not deny anything except in public discourse.

He just kept his eye on the ball to what was important to him, aggrandizement and women.

  7. We have been there for 14 months of Trump's presidency.

I expect him to do the wrong thing.

I'll note Obama never wanted to go-in, whether he was gun shy after his Libyan debacle, his usual anti-American self, or his usual effete self, is unknown.

Pelosi and others will be for it until they are against it. There is no support built up among a broad swath of American people.

  8. I'll stand by the Hitler comment

Hitler bluffed his way through the Reoccupation of the Rhineland in 1936, the Anschluss in 1938, and Czechoslovakia in 1939.

His mistake was Czechoslovakia or Poland depending on how you look at it.

Turkey does not want Pieces of Iraq now, but it wants pieces of Syria now and it might get them. It took the Hatay province in 1939. It has not even been 100 years.
