Syrian Forces Have Seized Territory From U.S.-Backed Syrian Rebels East Of The Euphrates River
DW: Syrian army fights US-backed SDF troops east of Euphrates
So far Syrian government forces have largely stayed west of the Euphrates river, but rare clashes have changed that. Last time this happened Syria faced a violent US counter-attack.
Syrian government forces directly clashed with US-backed rebels on Sunday, with state-run new agency SANA reporting they had seized rebel-held villages.
The two sides have only rarely clashed before, with the Syrian army largely staying west of the Euphrates.

Update: U.S. backed Syrian rebels are now claiming that thye have taken back this lost territory .... U.S. backed forces say they regain villages seized by Syrian army (Reuters).
Putin testing US again while attention on NK. There could be another airstrike. We're weak on the ground.
ReplyDeleteI am very interested in how this develops. If the US decides to stay the course and protect the Kurds, the Syrian war will last for decades. If not, the Kurds will be in an unattainable position and fall back. Then, will suffer against the Turks and Iraqi's.
