Iran Banned From Using Syrian Air Force Bases

Jerusalem Post: Report: Syrian Air Force bars Iran from using its bases

A Syrian opposition site reports that the Syrian air force forbade Iranian-backed Shi’ite factions from storing ammunition in its bases.

The commander of the Syrian Air Force has decided Syria will no longer allow Iranian-backed Shi’ite factions to use its bases to store ammunition and host fighters, the Syrian opposition newspaper Zaman al-Wasl reported on Monday. The report claims that the decision was made "following recent Israeli attacks."

Citing a source in the Syrian army, the report stated that this is the first step in a process leading to a Syrian demand that Iranian backed-forces leave Syria.

  1. The Iranians and their proxies are entering a phase of "go big or go home". The "go big" is of course to make headlines and perhaps force certain luke warm allies to brace up and give them stronger support, plus they might get lucky (very doubtful) with any conflict they may get into through this strategy. "Go home" would be disaster. There are too many players committed too far into the current strategy for this to be attractive.
