Report: Israeli Jets Flew Over Jordan And Iraq To Conduct Their Air Strike Against Syria On Sunday Night

WNU Editor: If this is true, you have to wonder if Jordan and Iraq knew what was happening .... and did they permit these overflights. Also .... the U.S. coalition must have known that these were Israeli aircraft and what they were doing  .... which means that they greenlighted a direct Israeli attack on Iranian forces in Syria. Here is an obvious observation ... this is not going to go over well with a lot of people in the region .... especially with the Iranians. Expect blowback .... and not against Israel.

  1. I see it differently. So far the coalition against Iran is showing tactical innovation and surprise to do whatever they want. MessagIng Iran they are outclassed.

I see no gain for Russiaa to get in the firing line between Iran and Israel/USA. Do you?

  2. Anon ... I do not think the russians are going to get involved. As for Iran .... they have been outclassed before, they will think of an appropriate response albeit their options are limited.

  3. In January 2008, I patiently explained to friends and family that we did not need to worry about Iranian nuclear weapons. Israel would eliminate the problem and their planes would be back home with the mission being accomplished before we (the Americans) even knew what happened.

I would have expected this to have been done by now. As to why the Israelis haven't done this, they will need to answer this. It's to bad really. I was rather looking forward to the "deer in the headlights" look on the faces of our leaders when trying to explain what just happened. Also, seeing our nemesis who has repeatedly humiliated us for decades take it on the chin I must admit would've been nice to.

As such, the Israeli airforce is certainly capable of over flying "coalition" territory with impunity without our people being aware of it. As to whether or not they would in this case, I don't know. Without inside information in real time we cannot "know" precisely what happened.

As the editor sometimes states, his "gut" tells him something. My "gut" tells me this was done without any coordination with the "coalition." As there are many Iranian agents in the US government, it would be unwise for the Israelis to consult with the Americans on something like this. Nevertheless the editor is correct. The blowback may not be against Israel. We need to prepare for it.

    1. Unless they have a Klingon cloaking device those f15s were tracked by the coalition every step of the way.

  4. The stakes for Israel couldn’t be higher with the outcome in Syria. Iran is backing Israel into a corner with its Syrian adventure and its long tolerated Lebanon mischief. The USA under Trump is fully engaged against Iran today. Tomorrow could be different. Israel could be sensing the time to take Iran down to a non threat is now. Saudi Arabia might be cooperating in a large scale Iranian attack? Possible and that shows how drastic the shift in alignments are since Trump took power.

  5. Anon (post # 4),

You may be correct. I would add with Trump's enemies closing in in him the type of support Israel is now getting from the US could be gone shortly. As such, the time for Israel may well be now or never.

    Fazman,

You could be right, however, nations routinely slip by air defense systems. Israel would be able to do this. I think they've gotten by Russian systems. As such, US systems wouldn't pose much of a problem for them. An article of faith suggests the US might really be that good even if the evidence doesn't seem to warrant such a conclusion.

I will say I believe men like Trump have sonething going for them that is beyond what most leaders have. This is guile. This means that in fights where the odds seem stacked against us, as long as we have leaders like these nen, we have a fighting chance.

As I stated, I don't think the coalition would be informed nor would POTUS want them to be. It's best that Iranian agents within the US government not be informed as they would inform the Iranian government which woukd jeopardize the mission.

  6. Few days before this happened the air defence system of Syria was publicised. The huge aerial denial of Damascus and the 3 spheres over Hama. My issue is how their jets freely pass over Lebanon, over Jordan and even Iraq without issues. Do these countries not care about their own security?

  8. Jordan allowed this. period.

  9. Fred,

"Jordan allowed this. Period." Unless you have access to real time inside information which I don't think you do you do not "know" whether Jordan allowed this or not. As such, a definitive statement like this simply isn't warranted. Jordan may well have been informed about this or they may not have. Given Israeli ability to take technology and modify it that has been demonstrated, I think it is very likely they could have slipped into "coalition" airspace, carried out their mission, and gotten back home without even being noticed.

"Always good to read the Russian perspective Boris." did you bother to read my posts at all. For the posts here I assumed that US and Israeli actions are compatible here. As such, we would want the Israelis to succeed. Since Russia and Israel are on opposite sides here, what I posted here can hardly be a "Russian perspective."

Frankly your arguments of late are weak. As such, all you have left is to try and distract. If you have something constructive to had here, please do so. Otherwise STOP WASTING MY TIME!!

    Fazman,

Thank you for the link. I will make this a point to check this out. As stated, given Israel's demonstrated ability to do such things I think it highly likely they slipped in and out unnoticed. As for the article, such revelations could be embarrassing to some. Hence they need to obfuscate but I will definitely check out the article. Again, thank you.

    Lori,

I thought about the refueling and how this might be done. I suspect the Israelis used something more "tactical" to carry this out. The pundits often talk about how Russian, Syrian, and Iranian interests aren't always compatible. I think the same thing applies to the "coalition" assuming we are talking about America, the Gulf Arab states, the Kurds, the Syrian "rebels," the western Europeans, and Israel. They all have differing goals and interests that may not always be compatible.

If Israel is doing something here that is in line with our interests, this would be good. If not, this could be a problem. As pointed out, Israel likely slipped in unnoticed and slipped out without our people even being aware of it. Perhaps I am wrong but for now I am sticking with that theory. Assuming their interests in this are compatible with what we are trying to achieve (just whatever that actually is) then clearly we would not want our government to be informed as unfortunately our government leaks like a sieve and Iran, Russia, Syria, and others would be almost certain find out exactly what was coming.
