Zero Hedge: Clapper: The U.S. Meddled In Foreign Elections And Conducted Regime Change In The "Best Interests Of The People"

Former head of US Intelligence James Clapper just admitted that the United States was simply looking out for citizens of various countries "when we tried to manipulate or influence elections or even overturned governments," a statement directly at odds with the moral high ground claimed by President Obama and other US officials on the topic of Russian election meddling.

In an interview with Bloomberg's Tobin Harshaw published Saturday, Clapper - who is promoting his new book "Facts and Fears," said "I guess the way I think about that is that through our history, when we tried to manipulate or influence elections or even overturned governments, it was done with the best interests of the people in that country in mind,’ adding that the US has a “traditional reverence for human rights.”

WNU Editor: By freely admitting that the U.S. has meddled in foreign elections and conducted regime change in the "best interests of the people" .... you have to wonder if James Clapper also used this same rationalization in doing the same thing in the past U.S. election. The James Clapper interview with Bloomberg is here .... James Clapper Has Some Thoughts on Donald Trump (Tobin Harshaw, Bloomberg).

Update: On a side note. This story keeps on getting better .... London ‘bridges’ falling down: Curious origins of FBI’s Trump-Russia probe (John Solomon, The Hill).

  1. Clapper, Comey and the rest of the gang have done so much damage to the US, and destroyed the trust of the people in these institutions.... they couldn't have done more damage if they tried. Makes you wonder what their motivations are. ..to thwart a presidency, or to actually cause chaos in the process too? Now Democrats love to talk about Russians. Let's do that just for a moment and for fun: if you were Putin, wouldn't you love what these guys are doing? All under the shield of "we do what's best for the people". Just wow. Look we can all agree that moral right trumps judicial law. EG even if it's legal to torture and kill you should never do it. Morality is important and it is a careful weighing that should - whenever possible be explained in public, and when not possible in public, then with oversight committees (see the drone killings process). Now what we have with these guys is a bunch of people who drank the CNN + SJWs righteousness kool-aid and then acted without oversight and just decided to do all these things. Above the law because Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon both were super outraged. And you know when people on the left are outraged you just know you got all the brunt of moral superiority behind you.

The biggest threat to the US is not Russia. It's not even China.

The biggest threat to the US is this odd and very sudden change of being outraged by everything. See the SJWs who just talked Google into giving up a massively important drone/AI program. Meanwhile in China and Russia they are laughing their asses off. Nothing is more destructive to the awesome power of the US than this change from a kick-ass/can do/pull-yourself-up society to this bunch of CNN entitled divas who whiplash the entire nation of Starbucks pussies into submission of social weakness and constant manufactured outrage.

Trump did not collude with Russia. He's not even a moron. He's just got bad taste and is vulgar and all these other things that we'd probably be too if we had billions for spending money and gold diggers all around us for decades. Tell me I'm wrong :)

I'd have a Trump on my side anytime of the day before a Cooper, a Clapper, a Comey or a lemon.

  2. Clapper was the DNI which was created because of after 911. Clearly, our best and brightest were not given this position.

    1. Dude it's been more than 2 years. .when is the "fun" starting? First year of fbI declared they found nothing. You even following news or just blabbing? Also: no convictions about Russia at all. Most got caught on technical crimes (I say technical for lack of other word. ..they were crimes but not connected to Russia. Almost all connected to tax law and bank "fraud" and "lying" to investigators..almost everyone in Washington is guilty of that and where you see 20 convictions of 20 Russian agents (which I hope you see is nonsense), I see the lives of 20 people destroyed, made bankrupt. If you never were attacked by someone with more money and more lawyers, you don't know that the law is very stretchable. The government with its almost unlimited resources has a >95% conviction charge. You really believe what you say, don't you? go back to watching cooper and lemon
