As has been stated by numerous legal scholars, I have the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong? In the meantime, the never ending Witch Hunt, led by 13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats (& others) continues into the mid-terms!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 4, 2018
CNBC: Trump: 'I have the absolute right to PARDON myself'
* President Trump said "I have the absolute right to PARDON myself."
* But he suggested he wouldn't do that because "I have done nothing wrong."
* Trump's lawyers argued that the president holds broad constitutional powers, including the power to pardon, in matters related to the special counsel's Russia probe.
President Donald Trump said Monday he has "the absolute right" to pardon himself — but added that he has "done nothing wrong."
The tweet followed The New York Times' publication of a confidential letter over the weekend, in which Trump's lawyers argued to special counsel Robert Mueller that the president's broad powers mean he could not have obstructed justice.
The 20-page letter also suggested that the president even wields the constitutional ability to exercise the pardon power in matters related to the special counsel's probe of the links between the Trump campaign and Russia.

ReplyDeleteNow if pres. Obama, or heaven forfend, pres. Hillary uttered such words, you would have steam coming out of your ears. The rubes, MAGA hat wearers, and general dips$%ts out there in anytown USA, well, their collective heads would have exploded at such comments made by a Dem. president.
Keep on Pwning those libs!
Love how you took the high Road there and convinced me with your well-formulated argument.
DeleteMost folks just pardon themselves after passing gas. Perhaps this is similar but of greater magnitude?
ReplyDeleteAs frustrating, inconsiderate, racist, demeaning, idiotic, childish, un-Presidential, inhumane, bigoted, insecure, narcissistic, ++++ as Trump is, in view of the pass given by Obama to Bush 2 it is highly unlikely that a future President would not pardon Trump so any thought of charging or impeaching for anything he has done at this point is as anon said passing gas. He could kill a million people and as long as they were residents of some other place he can walk free and hold his head high and he will be praised by millions of Americans.
ReplyDeleteOf course you have to remember that to pardon someone they must be charged and found guilty. Also there are some charges that cannot be pardoned by the President.
I think there's a typo in your opening paragraph, you said Trump.
DeleteTHE SNOWFLAKES ARE MELTING....
ReplyDelete"Trolls careening of a cliff".... you mean the guy who is the current president?
