President Trump Invites Russian President Putin To Visit Washington This Fall

CNN: Trump inviting Putin to Washington this fall

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump hopes to welcome Russian President Vladimir Putin in Washington this fall, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement Thursday.

"President Trump asked (national security adviser John Bolton) to invite President Putin to Washington in the fall and those discussions are already underway," Sanders tweeted Thursday, hours after Trump tweeted he is "looking forward" to meeting again with Putin to "begin implementing" issues they discussed during their summit earlier this week.

The invitation was extended to Putin by Bolton earlier on Thursday, according to a National Security Council spokesman.

The pair of tweets were the latest indication that Trump is doubling down on his Russian rapprochement strategy even as his approach to Putin continues to draw bipartisan criticism and questions abound as to what Trump and Putin agreed to during their first meeting.

WNU Editor: There are too many issues that still need to be discussed, and after Helsinki both leaders clearly believe that a face to face summit is the best way to resolve their differences. This second meeting also confirms to me that the first summit was a success, and that President Putin's visit to Washington in the fall will just continue what was discussed and negotiated over in Helsinki. And yes .... this second visit also confirms this .... President Trump Made It Very Clear Today In Helsinki That There Will Be No Cold War II (July 17, 2018).

  2. Considering that Trump's Loyal Opposition fabricated a story designed to seriously damage US-Russia relations as collateral damage to destroying the Trump Presidency, Trump is redefining US national interests. His redefinition is shaking the foundations of settled US policy since 1945 in some areas of the world.

    To sum up I think his policy can be defined as "if US policy isn't geared to preparing the US to successfully confront China, then it's bad diplomacy, economics and military policy."

    This means NATO is obsolete, US-Russian animosity is unhelpful, US led middle eastern wars are counter-productive and large scale US manufacturing in China can't be tolerated in the future.

    1. I agree. Unless evidence proves otherwise, he just seems keen on reaffirming US leadership in every domain he deems important
      Space -> space force
      Economy -> twice the size of China and growing fast
      Military -> budget increase, focus on growing navy, freedom of movement exercises aimed at china and Iran
      Trade war -> aimed to hold China accountable for decades of IP theft and copy right violations, the trade imbalance is just another reason

      Missing in action:
      AI & Research-> nothing
      Infrastructure -> nothing
      Cyber -> nothing
      Energy & propulsion -> nothing

  3. I imagine it will be timed nicely so Putin can stand beside Trump watching the military parade. The only serious question is, will Putin bring along a Femme Fatale to offset the beauty of Melania?

  17. "Wallow in the past and support Trump and Putin." Actually the opposite is true. Both men have expressed a desire yo end Cold War 2. Wallowing in the past = opposing these efforts.

    As a Certified Public Accountant, I can attest to the fact that our tax laws are NOT as they should be. Our IRS agents are moral though. There job is to work through the nonsense Congress has given them. My goals as a CPA are to keep you out of trouble with them and to legally minimize your tax liability. As such, the revelations of the so called "Panama papers" are of no concern to me either. How dare people try to maintain as much pf their hard earned money as they can?!!?

    If DJT took advantage of such things, I salute him!! It further confirms we chose well when we elected him. As for his tax returns, you will not understand them. His tax returns were prepared in such a way as to minimize the tax liability taking advantage of any and all loop holes possible. He didn't expect to be a politician. Those who plan to be politicians prepare tax returns in such a way as to maximize the tax they pay in the quickest manner possible.

    Anyone who has dealt with the IRS knows they do NOT like Republicans anr they especially HATE Trump. The Criminal Division hasn't been released in spite of infinite resources spent to do so. It's time to STFU about the tax returns.

    Besides all that, if the tax returns were daming, they'd have been released by now. The IRS like the rest of the government are about as secure as a leaky pipeline. As such, they will only reveal what is already known. He is rich beyond measure. As such, they remain hidden.
