Bloomberg: North Korea Slams `Regrettable' U.S. Attitude at Nuclear Talks

* Foreign ministry statement hours after U.S. delegation departs
* Secretary of State said negotiations done in ‘good faith’

The U.S. and North Korea diverged on the outcome of two days of talks, with Pyongyang terming the U.S. attitude at meetings on denuclearization with Mike Pompeo “extremely regrettable,” hours after the secretary of state cited progress on central issues.

A North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman, in a statement reported by the Korea Central News Agency, accused Washington of trying to unilaterally pressure Pyongyang into abandoning its nuclear weapons, and said trust between countries is in a “dangerous stage” -- adding that North Korea still trusts President Donald Trump.

The statement came hours after Pompeo departed for Tokyo after meetings led by Kim Yong Chol, a senior aide to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Pompeo earlier said that U.S. negotiators and their North Korean counterparts discussed the idea of Pyongyang making a full declaration of its weapons of mass destruction stockpiles and setting a timeline for giving them up.

WNU Editor: This contradicts U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's earlier assessment of these talks .... Pompeo says made progress with North Korea, more work needed (Reuters). What's my take .... these talks are going to take a few years. The next round of talks will involve North and South Korean officials on developing economic ties and joint projects together.

  5. When I saw Pompeo's statement I could tell immediately he's lying. As he is so high up the CIA I was surprised by his lack of tonal modulation capabilities. .so I thought it was a double lie. .but apparently not. .really lame
