WNU Editor: When I heard President Trump's remarks yesterday I said to myself that it was his way of responding to Meuller's indictments from Friday .... ‘It's a big FU from Mueller’ (Politico). But the President is also demanding answers that his critics do not want answers to (i.e. who really colluded with the Russians) .... Trump Throws a Server Wrench into Mueller’s Indictment Machine (LifeZette). And then there is Vladimir Putin stepping into all of this, bringing up the issue of Bill Browder, $1.5 billion in missing funds, and accusing him of transferring $400,000,000 to Hillary Clinton (see video below).
Update #1: It should be noted that there is no love lost between Bill Bowder and Russian President Putin .... Clinton’s link to Putin is the underreported ‘dossier’ bombshell ( Marc A. Thiessen, Washington Post).
Update #2: Bill Bowder responds to Putin's accusations.
My thoughts on the huge error of Trump meeting with Putin as effective 'equals' in Helsinki. Putin is a guy who should be contained, not engaged. https://t.co/iQCQ5olDVA— Bill Browder (@Billbrowder) July 16, 2018
Putin,a trained spy, secret service guy, says Russia did not do this or that...but American FBI, NSA', and CIA say otherwise and Trump and you go along with that thug?
ReplyDeleteand of course, like Trump, drag in Hillary...the evidence for Hillary did not get an indictment. To accuse, non-stop, with GOP in charge at this stage is irresponsible and silly. Trump favors an enemy nation over his own. Simple as that. Now blame MSM
Given the poor track records of US (un)intelligence services, it's prudent to treat anything they tell us with extreme skepticism. They may be good as secondary sources or third sources that corroborate a primary source but probably not as a stand alone primary source.
DeletePOTUS was absolutely right when he pointed both sides are to blame for the current situation. Now why is arguably the world's most powerful nation an "enemy natuon?" This is in large part because partisans in America went our of their way to foment a new Cold War. Now it's up to men like Trump to end it.
I suspect the groundwork has been done at the Summit. After the mid terms POTUS figures to have a larger majority and I expect even more good for the American people will be accomplished in this regard.
Bill Browder has a personal beef with Vladimir Putin. Let's get this straight. America is supposed to have a new Cold War with Russia so Bill Browder and others can settle personal scores with a foreign leader?
ReplyDeleteLet's get something else straight. Putin and Russia have thousands of nuclear weapons at their disposal and arguably the world's most powerful armed forces yet we are not supposed to treat them at least as an "equal" and all because Bill Browder and some of his pals have a personal grudge against the Russian leader.
Russia is to be "contained." Just how do we do this? I liken this to trying to contain a grizzly bear when all one has is a picket fence at their disposal for such a job. The resources available for containment really aren't likely to be up to the job. We certainly aren't going to be rely on the likes of Germany or other western European allies to help us with this. After all they are cutting business deals with Russia. Fighting Bill Browder's personal war is not going to e high on their agenda. In fact, it is unlikely to e on their agenda at all!!
We can't treat Putin as an "equal." At one point Forbes had Putin as the most powerful man in the world. While that could be overstated, it very likely isn't that far off. While disagreements are expected, such people will need to be respected especially by those who wish to advance.
Trump is absolutely right. Engage Russia, respect them, treat them as equals, and respect their leadership. This has a chance to lead to frank dialogue that actually has a chance to solve problems. The crazed anti-Russian and anti-Trump rhetoric is not helpful and is counterproductive and can lead to nowhere good for the American people.
Is there a "third way" that might be preferable? Perhaps, however, when given the choice of the Trump approach or the crazed go out of our way to foment conflict with Russia as advanced by Trump's opposition the Trump approach is preferable and is a no brainer.
A bit off topic but when we bumbled into Ukraine this was about the dumbest move a major world power ever made. When one does stupid, good outcomes aren't generally possible. When in a hole, STOP DIGGING!!
I am confident that after the mid terms with more pro-Trump personnel in office we/the American people can look forward to something better for our country. In our goal to make our country a great country, we need to look to the future. Sacrificing our families as pawns in someone's personal fight with a foreign leader or country is not a good approach.

ReplyDeleteI know something about our intel services and you are nothing but a lousy russian troll...get lost

As you will be able to see from the information provided I am obviously not Russian. You must resort to such slander because you have no valid points to make. Frankly, it is you who needs to "get lost."
You obviously know nothing about US (un)intelligence. Their incompetence is legendary. 9/11, Iraq WMD, and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Prior to the Summit I would have put the possibility of collusion at about 5%. Now I am pretty sure it is 0%. The Mueller stunt of issuing the indictments right before the Summit appears to have been a clear and brazen attempt to undercut a careful diplomatic effort and all for partisan political efforts, a true disgrace if there ever was one. At a minimum, it is very bad optics, had no upside, and huge downside risks assuming one's goal really is to advance America's just interests.
By telling me to "get lost" and accusing me of being Russian you are admitting you have absolutely nothing to offer. If you can contribute something productive, I am all eyes. Otherwise it is you who needs to "get lost!!"
At a minimum, you are going to need to explain why preserving HRC's political career is worth a new Cold War? Why is she worth risking millions of lives?
It appears to me that some people are so desperate to cover something up that they are willing to do almost anything even foment a new Cold War. I wonder what it is. The depths of depravity of such people is amazing.
They do seem rather desperate to undermine the whole effort thereby placing millions of Americans in even more danger than they already are in. such people seem to fit the description the ancient Greeks discussed when they said those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad. These people have gone stark raving mad.
I will reiterate, if you have something constructive to add here, please do so. Otherwise don't waste my time.
ReplyDeleteTrump just offered one of the boldest lies of his presidencyTrump on Russia and the 2016 US election: You gonna believe me or your lying ears?
Russkie troll: fake name fake company
Anon,
ReplyDeleteActually I think Trump should have stuck to his guns initially.
Evidence to support the claim of Russian meddling hasn't been presented. The indictment of the twelve Russians in the run up to the Summit appears to be a brazen attempt to undermine some careful diplomacy for what appears to be sheer partisan political reasons. Before that stunt I thought the prospects of such meddling might be about 10%. After that stunt by team Mueller I am pretty sure the odds of such collusion are somewhere around 0%.
Did Russia meddle or didn't they? Does the US meddle in Russian affairs or don't we? As the editor points out elsewhere such meddling has not been uncommon over the decades. The best approach to this is probably to treat this as we would any other such case and handle through diplomacy and finesse. Exacerbating Cold War 2 over this isn't worth it especially when no evidence has been presented that any votes were altered or anyone was actually influenced. Clearly a public dressing down of Putin would not have been in order. One does not dress down such powerful officials in such public forums if one wishes to advance their interests, in this case American interests.
"Ruskie troll: fake name fake company." Had you bothered to check this out you would know the name and the company are not fake. While I think you are to lazy, I will try again. Google "Robert L Foshee CPA Conroe, TX" and "Foshee and Associates PLLC, Conroe, TX." This will provide more information. Again, I think you are to lazy and lack intellectual honesty.
I will reiterate given the legendary incompetence of US (un)intelligence Trump probably should have stuck to his guns initially. Regardless of the situation it is not going to be a good idea to dress Putin down in public. I'm glad we have a POTUS who understands basic diplomacy.
Now some of us want a brighter future for our country and having seen what the previous leadership wrought understood to continue the status quo was not only dangerous but even suicidal. HRC was and is that status quo. As such, there was no choice but to vote for the unknown. As for the collusion or meddling made up crap, you will need to do better than you have so far. Furthermore many of us understand that ending Cold War 2 is crucial. As such, Trump is doing what he should be doing in conducting diplomacy. Unfortunately some are trying to undermine this for nothing other than partisan political reasons. I dare say the mothers who gave birth to such people will one day regret having given them birth.
