Julian E. Barnes and Matthew Rosenberg, Hamilton Spectator/New York Times: Kremlin sources go quiet, leaving CIA in the dark about Putin’s plans for midterm elections
WASHINGTON — In 2016, U.S. intelligence agencies delivered urgent and explicit warnings about Russia's intentions to try to tip the U.S. presidential election — and a detailed assessment of the operation afterward — thanks in large part to informants close to President Vladimir Putin and in the Kremlin who provided crucial details.
But two years later, the vital Kremlin informants have largely gone silent, leaving the CIA and other spy agencies in the dark about precisely what Putin's intentions are for November's midterm elections, according to U.S. officials familiar with the intelligence.
The officials do not believe the sources have been compromised or killed. Instead, they have concluded they have gone to ground amid more aggressive counter-intelligence by Moscow, including efforts to kill spies, like the poisoning in March in Britain of a former Russian intelligence officer that utilized a rare Russian-made nerve agent.

WNU Editor: When you have the former CIA Director accusing President Trump of being a traitor when it comes to Russia, it is not hard to imagine that CIA sources and contacts in Russia are going to then avoid their American handlers.
All those people who accused Trump of being a traitor - ripping the country apart and offering no evidence and intimidating and harassing republicans - those people need to feel some serious repercussions.
ReplyDeleteIt's not free speech to suggest someone comitted treason. It's one of the highest crimes and can be punishable by death (hanging till you're dead).
Silence on the left.
And there won't be a single redaction on CNN for the dozens of people they gave unlimited airtime to spew these unverified claims. Legitimate journalism. CNN. Trusted sources blablabla
On top, if you suggest the head of the executive colludes with Russia, no politics gets done. No laws passed. Hundreds of billions of cost right there. Countless lives lost who didn't get healthcare etc
On top, Intel sources don't submit insights. Cost to national security.
All in the name of resistance and Cooper and Lemon and Maddow and Waters being the righteous bunch telling us what's true.

...wait
ALL make money of this(!!) Big surprise. ;)
Do they get to keep that money in the end?
For spewing lies and pushing the country into chaos while at the same time pushing their political agendas under the cover of patriotism and Russia collusion?
If those talking heads get to keep the money they made, and if their assess aren't sued, then this country and this democracy is f*cked because under the cover of "free speech" everything will go.
I saw the headline and read part of the article. Time permitting I will read the remainder. Essentially my first thought was no wonder these sources have gone "quite." While I cannot be in their shoes, so I cannot "know" what they are thinking, I am thinking about these people (CIA), "you are untrustworthy."
ReplyDeleteAfter all they made up likes whole cloth about Russian and Trump "collusion" and "interference" in our elections strictly for political purposes. This combined with their less than stellar track record even before this essentially means no one in their right mind would trust them. Then to add to it we have Brennan's unhinged rant whereby he accused POTUS of treason and then the doubling down on such things by other members of the "intelligence" community.
Lets see here. These people have taken Cold War 2 which we were already in and done the equivalent of douse it with gasoline, light a match, and throw it on top of Cold War 2 all while providing absolutely no evidence to back up the reasons for why they are doing this. Then on top of this they burn our intelligence sources who might have been able to provide us with insight on the enemy they went out of their way to create!! To make matters worse they went out of their way to trash a very careful diplomatic effort that might have defused the situation. They did all of this so they could have a war we didn't need, can't readily afford, and may not be able to win. This may well go down as the stupidest move ever made by a major world power in the history of civilization.
