One day after what appeared to be a coordinated attack by media giants Facebook, Apple, Spotify and Google on Alex Jones, whose various social media accounts were banned or suspended in a matter of hours, the crackdown against alternative media figures continued as several Libertarian figures, including the Ron Paul Institute director, found their Twitter accounts suspended.
On Monday, Twitter suspended the editorial director of antiwar.com Scott Horton, former State Department employee Peter Van Buren, and Dan McAdams, the executive director of the Ron Paul Institute.

Now its true there are plenty of incredibly dumb rightwing channels on Twitter and Youtube but there are also plenty of equally dumb leftwing channels on those.I somehow doubt they'll get suspended maybe one sacrificial lamb here and there.

Horton was reportedly disciplined for the use of "improper language" against journalist Jonathan M. Katz, he said in a brief statement, while McAdams was suspended for retweeting him, he said. Past tweets in both accounts were available to the public at the time of the writing, unlike the account of Van Buren, which was fully suspended.
According to TargetLiberty, Horton and McAdams fell victim of Twitter’s suspension algorithm after objecting to Katz’s quarrel with Van Buren over an earlier interview.
Note then it was not the Institute but the director.
On Sunday, it took down five of six InfoWars podcasts from its iTunes and Podcast apps. Other tech companies, including Facebook and YouTube, followed suit with bans, citing their policies against hate speech.
But InfoWars, whose reach has been severely limited by these moves, still has a prominent platform with Apple: the InfoWars app is today (Aug. 7) ranked fourth among all free news apps on the company’s App Store. On Monday (Aug. 6), it was ranked 37th.

Free Speech Scholars to Alex Jones: You’re Not Protected
I don't take part in that garbage I don't need no ones to likes or pokes and I don't care what y'all are doing for dinner or if u got a fancy coffee and yes if it affects my taxes to pay for someone else's shortcomings it does bother me
Since the Left won't be able to use the Net Neutrality as a cut-out to limit free speech, the tech giants ( who have a lot of moneyed interest in keeping near monopolies through pleasing congress ) are moving openly now.
Whom do we trust, free speech "scholars" or Glen Reynolds? This can be a tough call especially when we don't have all of the facts or have full knowledge.
Glen Reynolds has an excellent reputation as a blogger and has been at a very tough business for a long time. In contrast, the tenured college professor who is tenured is untouchable. In my experience, this has led to some very questionable conclusions and in many cases outright bad conclusions. In my college days, we had a saying. "Do not tell the tenure professor he is wrong even when he is!!" When the primary sources are those of a college academic background, I have learned from experience that extreme skepticism needs to be applied especially in fields of law or political science and that the source will very often be inaccurate.
Now having read the articles, as I suspected the free speech scholars contain nothing of meat just more hysteria. In contrast the article linked to by Glen Reynolds, while perhaps inaccurate is at least well thought out and is at least absent of the kind of hysteria that the "scholars" gave us.
For what its worth, Alex Jones is a piece of work. What does he have one follower? Infowars cannot possibly threaten the "survival of our democracy." Infowars and other so called alt-right sites fi we wish to call them that are like a flea trying to attack a herd of elephants or to use another analogy like a child's toy water gun vs an entire ocean. If by threat to the survival of our democracy we mean a threat to the futures of corrupt pols, then perhaps it needs to die. If it really is that fragile then it does not need to live. Once it dies, we can then replace it with something better.
Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Google, and others have built themselves very good business models. Slavish adherence to the goals of certain corrupt pols will only run those business models into the ground. I think they must know this and at some point are going to tire of this.
Sites like infowars cannot threaten the survival of our democracy. Perhaps infowars should be banned. As stated, Alex Jones appears to be a piece of work. What could threaten the survival of our democracy is if other alternative sites are caught up in this. Essentially what the congressman is proposing is a far greater threat to our democracy than Alex Jones ever could be.
"Once it dies, we can then replace it with something better." I should clarify this. Perhaps we can replace with a true functioning system where the American people are able to determine the course of their government. Perhaps we can then end the de facto coup against a duly elected president. It will also be helpful to have leaders who stable and focused who do not come up with fairytales of "collusion" and "election interference" when they lose. This would represent a vast improvement.
I laugh when people post polls. Like it's the gospel or something. Polls showed hillary won?
