New York Times: U.S. to Restore Sanctions on Iran Following Withdrawal From Nuclear Deal
WASHINGTON — The Trump administration said it would restore sanctions on Iran that had been lifted under the 2015 nuclear accord at midnight on Monday, ratcheting up pressure on Tehran while worsening a divide with Europe.
The new sanctions are a consequence of President Trump’s decision in May to withdraw from the nuclear deal with world powers. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Sunday that the goal was to get Iran to change its ways — including ending all nuclear enrichment and curbing its weapons programs, as well as ending its support of brutal governments or uprisings in the Middle East.
European officials have said that the Iran nuclear agreement is crucial to their national security. International inspectors have concluded that Iran is complying with the accord.

Trump's most impressive skill is his ability to conduct serious and consequential diplomacy against many nations simultaneously. I've never seen anything like it. The list as of now is Iran, EU, Turkey, Russia, China, North Korea, Mexico, Canada, Syria, Afghanistan and counting. Hate the man or love the man, he and his team have shown impressive focus and concentration while serving up some impressive results so far.
ReplyDeleteIran's economy is built on a house of cards. Attacking their economy is a better way to make war than war-war. Same with China. Both country's governments are vile and repressive.
ReplyDeleteTalk about being isolated

Anti-troll. The EU did the same in the past to no effect. More for show than for go. Being isolated is no problem when you are right. Trump is right on the "deal" that was so bad Obama lied about it; hid details from the public and refused to submit it to the Senate. It is so bad Iran didn't sign the "deal". In fact it was no deal at all.
ReplyDeleteBad deal or not. All usa will do is now boost the yuan. They are indirectly helping their largest rivals grow . Possibly the dumbest move possible
