New York Times: Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein Wanted To Wear A Wire In A Plot To Remove President Trump

New York Times: Rosenstein Suggested He Secretly Record Trump and Discussed 25th Amendment

WASHINGTON — The deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, suggested last year that he secretly record President Trump in the White House to expose the chaos consuming the administration, and he discussed recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit.

Mr. Rosenstein made these suggestions in the spring of 2017 when Mr. Trump’s firing of James B. Comey as F.B.I. director plunged the White House into turmoil. Over the ensuing days, the president divulged classified intelligence to Russians in the Oval Office, and revelations emerged that Mr. Trump had asked Mr. Comey to pledge loyalty and end an investigation into a senior aide.

Mr. Rosenstein was just two weeks into his job. He had begun overseeing the Russia investigation and played a key role in the president’s dismissal of Mr. Comey by writing a memo critical of his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation. But Mr. Rosenstein was caught off guard when Mr. Trump cited the memo in the firing, and he began telling people that he feared he had been used.

WNU Editor: To wear a wire to entrap the U.S. President .... and then use such a recording with the help of a few cabinet members to remove a duly-elected President only a few months into his administration. To say that this is outrageous is an understatement. Even if it did not happen .... but just suggesting it .... it still makes it outrageous. I would love to know who leaked this story to the New Your Times. If true .... and more details corroborating the New York Times story come out .... Deputy Attorney General will have no choice but to resign. If not .... Attorney General Sessions will need to fire him. There is no if or but on this issue. This is insubordination to the nth degree. This also raises a number of questions like this big one. Is this the reason why Deputy Attorney General created the Mueller Counsel .... to replace his initial plan that did not work? This blog said a few days ago that on the topic of Russia-Gate, all roads lead to Assistant Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein. This New York Times report .... if true .... just confirmed it. As for Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein .... he is denying these reports. But the damage has been done. Even if he is not fired or dismissed, he will need to recuse himself on all affairs concerning the Trump administration. Here is also an easy prediction .... everyone in the media is right now waiting for a tweet from the U.S. President on this blockbuster news story.

  1. Just unbelievable. On top, it shows - to me at least - that the secret services overreacted and saw Trump as an enemy of the state because they couldn't be sure and -together with the media -talked themselves into this unbelievable resistance movement, high on the Left-wing righteousness that is incredibly toxic to dissenting opinions and -will- go so far as to unseat a duly elected president even if not guilty of collusion. Collusion was just pretext to some to get rid of Trump. This gets clearer by the day and the rot is deep. Little parrot in denial, will of course keep telling his media narrative until the last day - which likely will never come because it could mean the end of the democratic party as we know it. This is now a fight to the death between the two parties and it will only get nastier. From literally gunning down of republicans to accusing judges of sex crimes 36 years ago - anything goes. Considering all this, it's incredible how civilised republicans have been - a true eye opener.

  2. The real "Watergate" story is out there, and it has nothing to do with Russia.

  4. wew lads, this is one of those rare, earthshaking, disclosures which can change up things in DC. Here is hoping that this brings down more than Rosenstein.

Even if it just puts Rosenstein out of the job, it will be an important turning point. Hopefully, anyway.

  5. I’m giving this the 24 hour rule. After all it is the NYT. If they (the nyt) had any inkling this was indeed true, I’d be truly shocked that it was allowed to go to print.

  6. WNU,
RussinSoCal is right. I would be very leery of this report. The NYT may also be trying to protect Rosenstein with this article by warning Trump off of him. After a little consideration I think Trump should call in Rosenstein for a face to face (with due precautions) and if the meeting is unsatisfactory at all in any way, remove Mr. Rosenstein.
We are rapidly now approaching a moment of truth for many people and institutions in this country.

  7. WNU,
I should have added that this is a tactic (Chicken Little: the sky is falling) long used by the Democratic Party. I believe it is being used by the NYT against Trump in this case and also in the Kavanaugh kerfuffle.
The Republicans had better call this bluff and let the chip fall where they may or in the case of the Congress they will lose all of their support and in Trump's case it would mean a green light against him.

    1. 1. Same applies for you. Hence I use "unbelievable", a qualifier. I don't trust the NYT. But from many things I've seen in the doj/fbi and how Rosenstein acted - I watched the hearing multiple times - I'm inclined to believe his weasely nature fits right in. Oh and his friends now say he was joking, little parrot. See how quickly that turned sour on you?
      2. The resistance movement is the Democrats, sorry little parrot.
      3. Huh? Take your medication.
      4. Hell no. The economy is growing, unemployment at record level. .let's keep going you fool. No one wants the last years of slow growth back, little parrot.

Thanks for the late night giggles.

  9. Sadly no one is surprised by this. Neither the Trump haters nor the Trump lovers are in the slightest shocked by this. The former would say "Of course he should do it!". The later would say "Told you so!".

The only solution here is for Trump to fire a large number of people and prosecute a large number of former senior officals held over from the Obama Admin. The US Civil Service laws are a joke too. Badly in need of reform to remove those that are political on the time clock and remove a great many more at the will of the President.

  12. I am one of those who is very skeptical of The New York Times when it comes to national news and Washington politics. This is a story that will work its way out in the next few days/weeks.

    1. By the way in that new interview with that lady close to her even she said that Ford had to find "her truth" -..her truth. Not the truth but what "she believes". Omg even her character witness doesn't believe Ford knows what -the- truth is but can only tell her truth. Watch it, little parrot. This will turn sour on you too. Looks really bad. ..doing that Kind of character assassination. But oh no. .ford, the woman is the only victim. .not the man who was wildly accused of one of the highest crimes with no evidence, 36 years later just when he's about to take an important role that Democrats vehemently oppose. And -she-happens to have the closest ties to the Democrats.
Parrot. You're the kind of person who runs a porn website and then thinks women are all angels. Wait. That's exactly who you are. Haha, parrot you are too funny

  14. Fred is so logical, I bet he couldn't diagram a sentence.

Maybe they kicked him upstairs to limit the damage?

  15. This is all very simple. Trump will use this to dump Rosenstein/Sessions/Mueller...then we will see what happens.

Is this your idea of a porn site?
perhaps if this so offends you, don't go there..I have had this site for 17 years and get a lot of traffic and so will be ok if you stay in the schoolyard instead.
The woman who could recall the date or the party but the trump candidate said I was not at that party!
Now this is all simple: if I were the candidate and was not at that party or any party and did what is claimed and I knew the woman lying, I would ask for the
FBI to investigate and prove me right and her a liar.
    so simple.
as for the the insults, I will ignore and hope such remarks make you feel good about yourself

  16. Lapides,
What are you trying to say? If you're going to insult people making sense helps in that effort. Is it a pre-existing condition? Are you having difficulties acquiring your prescriptions? In the end babble really won't do as a riposte from such a august personage as yourself. I do admit that your lack of self awareness definitely has a plus side for you in the embarrassment department.

  17. Trump is a loyal guy.

    He made Sessions AG.

    - He rewarded an early supporter
    - Sessions had been a prosecutor tough on the klan.

    A Sessions has looked weak.

If Trump fired Sessions, the bases would applaud.

Sessions has to go or Rosenstein has to go. That is it.

If Sessions does not get rid of Rosenstein, he is toast. It won't matter, because Session's replacement will get rid of Rosenstein. People will cheer.
