Reuters: Exclusive: China envoy warns of dire consequences if U.S. hardliners hold sway
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - China is going to this week’s G-20 summit hoping for a deal to ease a damaging trade war with the United States, Beijing’s ambassador to Washington said on Tuesday while warning of dire consequences if U.S. hardliners try to separate the world’s two largest economies.
Speaking to Reuters before heading to join Chinese President Xi Jinping’s delegation at the Group of 20 summit in Buenos Aires, Cui Tiankai said China and the United States had a shared responsibility to cooperate in the interests of the global economy.
Asked whether he though hardliners in the White House were seeking to separate the closely linked U.S. and Chinese economies, Cui said he did not think it was possible or helpful to do so, adding “I don’t know if people really realize the possible consequences - the impact, the negative impact - if there is such a decoupling.”

WNU Editor: I am hearing zero interest to compromise from the Chinese ambassador.
This is NOT the time to deal; they need to feel more heat before we sit down with them. I would conclude any agreement at this point, not dealing with the South China Sea and NK issues (among others) a failure.
ReplyDeleteHonestly wtf do they think who they are? They've stolen trillions over the last 2-3 decades from the US and EU. Not figuratively. Literally. They've infringed on so many copyrights it's not even funny. They've stolen military and industrial IP on the largest scale ever recorded in human history. They're currently on top the biggest WTO violators. They "landgrab" vast, incredibly rich resources in the south China Sea (we should rename that area by the way) with trillions in USD @ oil and gas and did so while threatening all their neighbours with war over it. These guys. If you give in to them, they'll take it all and laugh behind your back. Only Trump can stop them. I'm certain. Hillary would have backed up so quickly if her donors don't like it. She would have kissed Xi's feet for a 50 million donation. No spine. Really thankful for Trump. He's a pig in many ways, but on this one he's 1000000% right. The bill is due and China has to pay up. Europe is on board with this as well. Much of Asia too. So China can huff and puff, but they managed to encircle themselves with nations who want their money back. Too late, China. Your time of thievery and living large on our backs is up. The difficult part is really to tell your population that this is the case. Of course they can't. So a shooting war must happen. Something China can win for sure and look intimidating enough. But who? Vietnam who they threatened with war would be too small of an opponent. Australia would trigger massive retaliation. Japan -forget it. They might not back down and the US might help. NZ? Mope. Also same reaction as with Australia. Maybe Philippines, but of all the APAC countries it's the last one still somewhat aligned with them or not hostile to China. I really don't know who China can attack safely. Certainly not India (who hate them too and have nukes)..and that's the problem. .there's no good candidate to attack for China. Otherwise they'd done so a long time ago. They need a fight to look strong - we all know they are itching for it. Just look at how they harass fisherman of other nations. But anyways. Time is up. Pay up, b$tches
