ABC News: Michael Cohen pleads guilty to lying to Congress in new deal with Mueller in Trump-Russia probe
Michael Cohen, President Trump’s longtime fixer, former personal lawyer, and confidant, pleaded guilty Thursday to lying to Congress about the Russia investigation.
The deal is the second that Cohen has reached with federal prosecutors and represents a potential blow to Trump, who has been fixated on discounting both special counsel Robert Mueller and inquiries into his campaign’s potential collusion with Russia.
Since the first plea on separate campaign finance related charges, Cohen, who once said he’d “take a bullet” for Trump, has provided dozens of hours of interviews to the special counsel’s team, the sources said.
Cohen appeared in federal court in Manhattan Thursday where entered a guilty plea for misstatements to Congress in a letter last year about his contacts with Russians during the presidential campaign.

Update: Michael Cohen Admits Talks for Trump Over Moscow Tower Occurred Well Into Campaign (The New York Times)
WNU Editor: President Trump has responded (see below):
Michael Cohen is facing serious prime time and fines for committing unrelated personal financial crimes, and it looks like he is hoping for a better deal. Absent any evidence .... and there is no evidence .... it comes down to his word and the word of the President. This is not justice .... this is typical raw Washington politics at play under the guise of "justice". And so much for the original reason why the Mueller counsel was established in the first place, and the media narrative for the past two years that Trump colluded with Russia to "steal" the 2016 election. No one is talking about that now .... and the reason why is simple .... it never happened. But as this blog mentioned yesterday, we now know what the Mueller Counsel is doing to get what they want .... President Trump's Lawyers Know What The Mueller Counsel Is Doing (November 29, 2018).
the silence on this post is deafening
ReplyDeletehow many cell phones seized that belonged to Trump's fixer? and you dismiss this guy as not related to the ongoing investigation...it is now coming to a head. I suggest that Trump will do something drastic prior to the Dems taking over Jan 1, and, if he dismisses Mueller, that will be an obstruction of justice. Further, you dismiss all of this when in fact there have been ongoing indictments and with each day, the investigation seems to get closer and closer to the president. To brush this obvious movement aside is naive at this point. At best, you perhaps might better take a Wait and See approach
