U.S. President Donald Trump (C) talks to the media between Defense Secretary James Mattis (L) and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly during a briefing with senior military leaders at the White House in Washington, U.S., October 5, 2017. Reuters
Tom Dispatch: Danny Sjursen, Ringing in a New Year of War
On December 9th, the Washington Post covered Donald Trump's offhand, if long expected, announcement of the ousting of retired Marine General John Kelly from an embattled White House. Its report focused on the chief of staff’s “rocky tenure” there with a nod to his many merits, among them that he “often talked the president out of his worst impulses.” Buried deep in the piece, though, was a single line that caught my eye (and possibly that of no one else on this planet): “Kelly told others that among his biggest accomplishments was keeping the president from making rash military moves, such as removing troops from sensitive zones.”

WNU Editor: My must read post for today. On a side note (and prediction). In 2020 President Trump will be running on three main issues, and these are the issues that will help re-elect him. They are .... the economy. Border security. And the withdrawal of U.S. forces from war-zones that show no signs of ever ending.
fascinating that a very far left wing view is now the way for conservatives to view things!
ReplyDeleteThe Wall a disaster and will not reelect him. the economy may be going into recession...too soon to tell...withdrawing troops ok except for its cost of our allies...gut says: he will not win 2nd term and good chance he will not even run
ReplyDeleteWishful thinking. The economy will continue to grow, we are simply in a correction and if a China deal can be made, wow; the economy will grow even faster.
DeleteAmerican troops may not be coming home from Afghanistan after all
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump hasn’t ordered the Pentagon to withdraw troops from Afghanistan, a White House spokesman said, contradicting reports last week that he’s directed the military to pull 7,000 soldiers out of a conflict he’s long criticized.
“The president has not made a determination to drawdown U.S. military presence in Afghanistan and he has not directed the Department of Defense to begin the process of withdrawing U.S. personnel from Afghanistan,” Garrett Marquis, a spokesman for the National Security Council, said in an emailed statement on Friday.

USA fracking successes offer opportunities for “new think” around the world. One thought is to redefine geographic vital areas to the USA. Another is to redefine where our military is deployed.
ReplyDeleteResult?
Let China spend money to defend its oils supplies.
Rethink then redefine US vital interests.
Withdraw from the globe where no vital American interests exist.
This is an opportunity unseen since the end of WWII for the USA to return to George Washington’s precept, avoid foreign entanglements.
War is necessary and good. I reject the adage that "A bad peace is better than a good war."

Ask the victims of Auschwitz, if that is true.
The toll was 6 million In the Death camps. Just think if peace had been negotiated before the Russian hit Warsaw. The NAZIs shut down and leveled Auschwitz. If they had not, the death toll would have been far higher.
When test taking when you see the word "All" in a statement it is usually false. That is the problem with the Yiddish adage.

If America pulls out of Syrian and Afghanistan, war will still come to America. It is just natural. It is natural for it to come to any and every country.
That does not means Trump's pullout is a mistake. It might be. It could be.
But we are fighting with a divided house. We have homegrown liberal idiots and Moscow to thank for that. One, we have to get a consensus.
Two, we have debt and deficits. We keep going because we are printing money and it works. It won't work forever. It will cease working when we lose reserve currency status.
Churchill's illustrious ancestor won many battles. They were years when he was told to do nothing, because they money was not there. Look it up. There is an English King and not a French King, because France imploded. They were in debt too long from fighting too many wars.
I simply raise a question
ReplyDeleteNow that Russia and China are getting involved in South and Central America, is that area, plus Cuba, vital to our self-interest as they were with the Monroe Doctrine and Cuba missile crisis or have things changed so those areas no longer matter?
Trust Pelosi to do everything to make the 'correction' permanent.
ReplyDeleteIf they are bring up the ERA form 309 years past, the Dems will shut down the government mad do every last dirty trick they can. why not. The Dems blood libel their opponents for years, why wouldn't they do everything dirty?
Nancy Pelousy will send a budget that cuts the military. Lest you think that will cut the deficit or debt, be not alarmed. She will cut the military and take any saving to apply to social programs and then some and from the deficit.
It won't go by the Senate, but McConnell is weak, it might. I expect more shutdowns.
Remember Pelousy thinks she can get it done, because it is her due. She is nobility.
Don't believe it? Look at the picture; Princess has been around for a century
Pelosi: I partied with Kennedy (and here's the picture to prove it)
anon: your snippy name calling defines who and what you are
ReplyDeleteLapides,
DeleteYou're being obvious again.
Name calling is one way to cope with the hypocrisy of the Democrat ruling class.
ReplyDeletePelousy Democrat leader and a non-union business owner. Really?
"Napa grapes bring up to $4,000 a ton compared with $300 a ton for, say, San Joaquin grapes.
But Pelosi, winner of the 2003 Cesar Chavez award from the United Farm Workers, hires only nonunion workers and sells these grapes to nonunion wineries. ...
Which makes Pelosi's steadfast opposition to any attempts to enhance border security and stem the flow of illegal immigration into the U.S. all the more interesting since she seems to be among those rich employers who financially benefit from a steady supply of cheap foreign labor. "
Noe, 2:13 PM don't you feel stupid.
"french fries at The Bistro Bar at Pelosi's Auberge du Soleil hotel is $19."
ReplyDeleteMaybe Lefty Anon should eat there for bragging rights.
