There is simply no justifiable reason to continue to have the trade relationship that we have with China. They should be shunned, sanctioned and isolated into submission. They are an adversary and a severe threat to regional security and power dynamics. Many Western friendly countries in the South China Sea that are being threatened by China would be happy to fill the economic gap that would be created from an economically isolated China. It would empower these allies and shift the balance of power and lessen the need for such a heavy US presence there. I have no idea why this policy is not already fully in progress.
