The Hill: GOP poised to rebuke Trump
Frustrated Republicans say it’s time for the Senate to reclaim more power over foreign policy and are planning to move a measure Thursday that would be a stunning rebuke to a president of their own party.
GOP lawmakers are deeply concerned over President Trump’s reluctance to listen to his senior military and intelligence advisers, fearing it could erode national security. They say the Senate has lost too much of its constitutional power over shaping the nation’s foreign policy and argue that it’s time to begin clawing some of it back.
“Power over foreign policy has shifted to the executive branch over the last 30 years. Many of us in the Senate want to start taking it back,” said a Republican senator closely allied with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

ReplyDeleteWho gives a flying fuck? Seriously. IMHO they are not in it to win it or they would have dealt with Pakistan's double dealing with sanctions such as preventing students from studying in the U.S. etc.
If we are not in it to win, then why are soldiers dying there?
Quoting Tennyson is stupid. That guy never had skin in the game. Thinking that way breaks a social contract.

ReplyDeleteTrump has been the president for the past two years and now his own party wants to oversee him because they do not trust his judgment...though you do.
It is now Trump's foreign policy. Now. Has been for two years. Now it may be a good policy or may not be, but why does his own party want to have more of a say in this?

a bit of history (reality)
ReplyDeleteAfghanistan housed O.B. Ladin and his terror group that used that place for training. After 9/11, we invaded and nearly did away with the terror groups but then Bush invaded Iraq, and that diverted our forces there and helped Iran win out in the Iran/Iraq war area. But in moving the main battle forces to Iraq, the terrorists were able to recoup and have regained their strength. That was not the fault of Obama. Sorry but Bush did it.
Senate backs McConnell’s rebuke of Trump’s military drawdown plans
ReplyDeleteIn an unmistakable sign of Republicans' growing frustrations with President Trump, the vast majority of GOP senators supported Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's measure contradicting Trump's rationale for withdrawing U.S. troops from Syria and Afghanistan.
if you believe that, then you share DNA with the two misfits: Trump and Alex Jones!
