Business Insider: The US Navy's best sub-hunting aircraft is facing some nagging problems

* The Boeing-made P-8A Poseidon is one of the most advanced maritime-patrol aircraft in service.
* Its high-tech surveillance gear has made it a mainstay of the Navy's air fleet and drawn the interest of allied forces around the world.
* But some nagging problems are affecting the Navy's P-8As, according to a recent Pentagon report.

The P-8A Poseidon, introduced in 2013 to replace the P-3 Orion, has quickly become one of the most highly regarded maritime-patrol aircraft in service, fielded by the Navy and sought after by partner countries all over the world.

But the P-8A is dealing with some lingering issues that could affect the force as a whole, according to the fiscal year 2018 annual report produced by the Pentagon's Office of the Director of Operational Test and Evaluation.

WNU Editor: Maintaining any fleet with the necessary parts and maintenance is always a problem if it is not addressed. This is a money/management/procurement problem.

  1. These drop radio beacons don't they. Despite the glowing review of this aircraft, Russia subs on many occasions have managed to bypass them, just years ago a Russian Sub near Syria played cat and mouse with US forces in the area. Id assume this is less about the aircraft and rather the on board sensor arrays, as in replacing dropped beacons and such. With current air traffic shouldn't we be looking commercially to lower costs by installing even basic arrays on jet liners?

  3. It sounds as if domestic infrastructure breakdown has spread to the military. So much wasted money on death and destruction. Whether it is in the actuality of wars, or in wishing for that actuality it represents lost opportunity for human security and advancement. Not to forget of course the impact of wasted lives.

  4. Canada spent so much money on a socialist's GF, whom he would not marry that they had to lay off 1/2 their military. So, the US had to cover it, which led to parts shortages.

If that dude would just pay the heating bill, but alas no. He wants the milk for free. Really, he wants everything for free.

You are actually quite an amazing guy/girl/whatever.

Just when it seems you will never exceed a previously higher achieved level of stupidity, somehow, and above all reasonable logic, you manage to break that barrier. In that respect I would not argue with someone who suggested you are an illegitimate offspring of one of Donald Trump's illegitimate off-spring's, ten times removed offspring. Your command of the English language and inability to formulate intelligent thoughts are surprisingly similar, despite all that insulation of distance between you and him.

That you keep repeating that stuff I filled your head with, continually confirms my expectations that salvation for you is not possible. You are I am beginning to believe, hopeless and I offer my apologies to the Snotgoblinscrotumscratchers of the world for having called you that.

  6. I am just taking you at your word that you are an unmarried, older gentlemen (strike that. The proper term is cad) who bitches that his GF is broke, but won't marry her.

Reminds me of a gay liberal, who complained that his boyfriend living 20 minutes away in NYC and how hard that made it. He (a white guy was forever talking about the American Indians just like you.

    Birds of a feather!

Except that he had a little more gumption than you sweet heart. He actually had a blog for a while.

PS As for filling me head. You told the same lies or truths to WNU and every other reader here. You are one clever dude.

  9. Yup since you are taking me at my word I guess you accept my claim that you are and idiot.

Acceptance of that is a good thing because now that you have accepted it you can begin to improve on it. I suggest a course in basic English writing.
