U.K. Prime Minister May: Brexit Can Be Delayed

Daily Mail: Brexit CAN be delayed, May tells MPs: British PM bows to Remainer rebellion after brutal Cabinet showdown and promises them they will be able to delay EU exit by two months if her deal fails

* Theresa May conceded MPs will get chance to delay Brexit after Remainer revolt
* Cabinet gathered to sign off extension if deal is not passed by MPs next month
* 23 dissidents met secretly last night to discuss how to stop no-deal scenario
* Three ministers say they are prepared to back a Commons move by rebel MPs
* Jeremy Corbyn has upped pressure by lining up behind a second referendum

Theresa May surrendered to a Remainer revolt today by promising that MPs will get a vote on whether to delay Brexit.

With negotiations deadlocked in Brussels and the clock running down, the PM told the Commons no deal would only happen with 'explicit consent' and it will get a chance to extend Article 50 within a fortnight.

The climbdown came as Mrs May scrambles to avert mass resignations by ministers who have been vowing to rule out no deal in crunch votes tomorrow.

She tried to soothe angry Eurosceptics by insisting that a delay could only be a 'one-off' and was not something she wanted to do. She stressed she will never cancel the Brexit process altogether, arguing that the UK could make a 'success' of no deal if it has to.

WNU Editor: I always felt the fix was in to not respect the decision of the British people to leave the EU, and this delay confirms it. There are too many political and commercial interests who prosper from this relationship, and they are the ones who rule the country. Expect more delays and obfuscations, and maybe a call for a second referendum where all the stops will be done to fix the vote to guarantee a "stay in the EU" victory. Such a tactic will also guarantee the Conservatives being punished by their own supporters for the next generation or two.

Britain is paralyzed on trade at the moment. PM May's blundering might encourage more international businesses to relocate away from London. That no doubt was a goal of Berlin and Paris once the succession was approved. Would the EU powers be all that upset if Britain came back to the EU with London stripped clean of many financial heavy weights?
A reduced Britain will wonder what ever happened to the "special relationship" too.

BS. No one in Europe was happy for Uk to leave. We all were surprised by it and couldn't believe it. It was them who decided it, not Europe. Europe wanted them to join proper, not just the special trade zone but also by law and monetary units. .they never wanted. We accepted. It was 100% them, not us. Nothing you say makes sense. And the special relation is between England and the US ffs

Anon nbr 2, it wouldn’t hurt you to read before writing. I never said the EU wanted Brexit. I never said or implied they caused it.

Obviously the special relationship is with the USA.

Once Brexit was voted for the EU turned vulture like and began preying upon English businesses and that is a fact frequently boasted by Macron.

May is the type of leader who is a really a manager. They manage the decline, because they are an empty suit.

That is a bad look for a man or a woman.
