Daily Mail: EXCLUSIVE: 'This stings!' How Obama saw Trump's victory as a 'personal insult,' watched the movie Dr. Strange to distract himself from election results and blamed Hillary for the loss because of her 'scripted, soulless campaign'
* The new edition of 'Obama: The Call Of History' by New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker lays bare Obama's fury over the election results
* The book was originally released in July 2017 but has been updated with extensive new reporting - and the run through of election day is electrifying
* Obama arrogantly thought there was 'no way Americans would turn on him' even though Clinton was far from perfect
* He likened himself to Michael Corleone in the Godfather and said he was handing power over to somebody who would destroy his legacy
Barack Obama admitted 'this stings' after the 2016 election result and spent the night watching the movie Dr Strange to try and distract himself, a new book claims.
The former president went from being confident that Hillary Clinton would beat Donald Trump to seeing it as a 'personal insult' that she lost.
Obama could not believe the American people had 'turned on him' for a man he had written off as a 'cartoon'.
As the dust settled Obama told his family that 'this hurts' and blamed Clinton who 'brought many of her troubles on herself' and ran a 'scripted, soulless campaign'.
The eye-popping details are in the new edition of 'Obama: The Call Of History' by New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker.

WNU Editor: Former President Obama's assessment on how Hillary Clinton ran her campaign is right. She did lack energy and focus in the states that would have made a difference in the 2016 campaign. As for the rest .... it is no secret that the former President despises the current President, and I suspect that it is going to get worse as his legacy continues to be dismantled by President Trump.

"Obama told one aide: 'I've got the economy set up well for him. No facts. No consequences. They can just have a cartoon'."
ReplyDelete"She was the one who could not translate his strong record and healthy economy into a winning message."
Like him or not, the economy is doing surprisingly fine under Trump. And Obama's record is one of statesmanlike compromise where the American people usually lost out, unfortunately. In his quest to stay in good graces with his Harvard elite friends Obama sold out the progressives who put him in office again and again to prosecute his drone war. One day he'll realize that trying to please everyone at once was what damned him. I don't think his intentions during his term were malign, but he needs to realize that his choices and actions were what turned a huge chunk of the Democratic base towards Trump (and anger at the system in general) in 2016. It wasn't a spontaneous bout of insanity like he tells himself.
Then he can't be very happy with the current crop of Dems either. Lots of old white guys leading the herd. So much for "diversity".
ReplyDelete/And Biden has a burbling Ukraine problem about that's to blow up.
Who's going to call Biden out on it though? His competitor has fallen into that trap himself with shipments of lethal aid.
ReplyDeleteIt is not unusual for two term American Presidents to hand off power to someone from the competing party. It is the norm in fact. It is not a personal insult by the voters. People look ahead, not back.
ReplyDeleteIt is unusual for the same party to transition from a 2 term President to holding office for a third term under someone new from the same party. It's only happened twice in the past hundred years (Harding/Coolidge to Hoover, and Reagan to Bush), and that successor always lost a bid for a fourth consecutive term of the same party.

She would also do ANYTHING to win.

ReplyDeletePsychologically not presidential material. He'd blame the bees for stinging him if he took the top off their hive. They just don't understand me, he lamented.
