F22 Raptor and F35 JSF in flight formation
Express: USA’s new TRILLION pound F-35 fighter jet fail to impress pilots who prefer OLD F-22 model
THE predecessor to the US’s new top of the line fighter jet is far superior, according to pilots who would choose the F-22 Raptor over the newer F-35 “hands down”.
Lockheed Martin’s new fighter jet, the F-35, is part of a US programme which cost the country a whopping £1.3trillion ($1.5trillion). This is one of those No Sheet Sherlock stories.
ReplyDeleteThe F-22 was supposed to outclass the F-35 and be the high end fighter. Obama screwed that up when he cut off the F-22 at only 187 jets instead of the 380+ the Air Force had wanted. Even that number was down from the original need of over 700. So Obama took it from 700 to 187 to save money. But it screwed up the vision of using the F-22 in numbers as a air superiority fighter protecting the F-35 which did the bombing.
Now the F-35 has to be both and will never equal the F-22.
The Air Force still wants to replace the A-10 with the F-35. It's laughable. I've seen A-10's with so much battle damage they shouldn't be able to fly but they do. F-35's expensive toys. F-22 is much better fighter.
