Bloomberg: U.S. Oil Output Tops 12 Million Barrels a Day for First Time
(Bloomberg) -- U.S. crude output soared to new heights in April, highlighting OPEC’s dilemma just days before the producer group meets amid growing geopolitical threats.
A government report on Friday showed U.S. production grew 2.1% in April to 12.16 million barrels a day. Booming shale production from places like the Permian basin of West Texas have enabled U.S. oil output to overtake Saudi Arabia and Russia.
At the same time, trade disputes and escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf have clouded the outlook for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, which is expected to extend current output cuts next week.

When you remove all regulatory constraints on a polluting extractive business anything is possible. Likely you have not left lovely Quebec to experience the results in these areas of extraction. Visibility is often very low, often looking like dusk even on brilliant clear days. Your nose runs and you cough a lot. Health outcomes are poor and chronic diseases are high vs. Pre deregulation. In short, these areas stink. Having seen the environmental and human health impacts costs of this success I am less then impressed for the people who live under these conditions. However, looking at it from your cowboy capitalist view point it is a tremendous success.

ReplyDeleteThe conservative position as espoused by Palin is all the above. That is oil, coal, hydro, nuclear, wind and solar.
The liberal position is wind and solar and raise electricity rates by a factor of 6 or more.
Not only does the link not look anything like the original, it completely obscures the intended link destination. There is no way by looking at the short link that you can tell what the intended target link is. All you see in the short link is the link shortening service site name followed by a string of seemingly random numbers and letters.
