Time/AP: Puerto Rico's Political Crisis Deepens as Massive Protests Fail to Oust Governor
(SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico) — The political crisis in Puerto Rico has escalated to a point where many wonder how Gov. Ricardo Rosselló will be able to govern the U.S. territory in the coming days and possibly weeks amid the massive protests to oust him.
Rosselló dug his heels in late Monday after what seems to have been the biggest protest the island has seen in nearly two decades, telling Fox News that he has already apologized and made amends following the leak of an offensive, obscenity-laden online chat between him and his advisers that triggered the crisis.
But Puerto Ricans remained unsatisfied and vowed to keep protesting until he steps down, no matter how long it takes.

Memo to governor: Gays do not let up.
ReplyDeleteTrump will needle him as payback and as a political skirmish to win points.
I don't understand how citizens can demand an elected official, who has a set term of office, resign and leave office early. Especially when it is the result of gay slurs. WHO is behind this is the real question. Who is organizing the protests? Who is paying the protesters? Of course the useless so-called news media is silent regarding this. Because this furor is over "gay slurs", I suspect it is a socialist/communist individual or protest. George Soros?

Just because Gov. Ricardo Rosselló is a Democrat does not mean he believes in the whole agenda or all its policies.
ReplyDeleteHe might believe in socialism, but might not believe in racial equality. He certainly is sexist and disparages gays.
He might only be down for 70% or 80% of the liberal agenda. He might not be down for any of it. He might have surveyed the landscape and say that Democrats outnumbered Republicans 3 to 2 or 3 to 1 and decided he much rather climb the ladder of a large organization rather than a small. He might not have any principles at all beyond self advancement. You see it in organizations all the time.
For example you think McConnell is a Republican? He is about being a multi-millionaire. Without his incumbency and party backing (& no binary choice), do you think the rank & file would vote for Mitch now if there was a level playing field and everything was equal.
Frito Baby,
Those lady demanded he leave and they demanded it first. Tlaib demand Trump leave 2 years ago. She hopped up and down screaming, when he Trump an economic speech. I remember that day well because there 8,0 earthquake in North America. I did not thin bouncing boobs could cause that much damage.

Socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor is a classical political-economic argument, stating that in the advanced capitalist societies state policies assure that more resources flow to the rich than to the poor, for example in the form of transfer payments. The term corporate welfare is widely used to describe the bestowal of favorable treatment to particular corporations by the government. One of the most commonly raised forms of criticism are statements that the capitalist political economy toward large corporations allows them to "privatize profits and socialize losses."[1] The argument has been raised and cited on many occasions.

ReplyDeleteThe post did not bash socialism per se. Really at all. What the post did do was analyze and bash one individual, the guv.
The guv's emails are prima facie evidence that the governor is either not all on board or is a hypocrite.
Someone however came out of the woodwork lickity split to defend socialism, when we were just opining about one guv caught red handed.
"privatize profits and socialize losses."
If that is true then companies never go out of business.
"Socialism for the rich and ..."
The elites in socialist /communist countries always live better. Why is that? Money and resources come in all forms. You can measure square footage the leaders get, their longevity, where their kids go to school. There is very definitely a hierarchy in devout socialist communist countries. anyone who tells you otherwise did not pay attention in sociology, biology, anthropology or psychology. To be sure if they passed those course the regurgitated by rote what was expected of them or were socially promoted. After all they too want to climb the rungs of the socialist ladder.
I've been to the Forbidden city. I know who lived where, what goods they had, and how much party time they had. I also found a miraculous heat engine that could flash water to steam in an instant and never quit.
DO YOU KNOW THE DIFF BETWEEN COMMUNIST AND SOCIALIST?
ReplyDeleteAccording to actual communists, socialism is a stepping stone oin the road to full blown Stage IV communism.
ReplyDelete"The goal of socialism is communism." Vladimir Lenin
"To remove this conflict socialism is the political and economic stepping stone intervention. Socialism is a stage of transition from capitalism to communism"
"There must be multiple stages to socialism, the first of which is capitalism and the last of which is communism."

There are, believe it or not, socialists who do not value Lenin and detest communism
ReplyDeleteI do not view the nordic nations as communist.
Although Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez embrace the term “democratic socialist,” the policies they advocate place them much closer to yet another socialist tradition: social democracy. Social democrats say it is possible and desirable to reform capitalism. This tradition dominated the post-World War II European left and influenced the American Democratic Party, most notably during the Progressive era and the New Deal, inspiring Social Security, unemployment insurance and the eight-hour workday.

Well you and Bernie have something in common. Two things acutely. You are both clueless hypocrites.
Imagine my surprise, when I go overseas and see private Swedish companies like Scania. Shock!
