The Russian Defence Ministry announced earlier in the day that 14 people had died as a result of a fire that erupted inside a deep-sea military submersible while it was coducting research of the sea bottom in Russian territorial waters for the Russian military.

ReplyDeleteMy thoughts were that they were on a undersea cable cutting operation or going Red Star Rogue.
ReplyDeleteRemember all the tin foil scare crows yesterday saying Pence was returning cuz USA and Russia just fought a underwater battle?
ReplyDeleteI am shocked Russia released the names and pictures of the deceased, a very un-Soviet practice. So secrecy has diminished somewhat, good to see.
What is so shocking about the tin foil brigade is if a US sub was destroyed, how the heck could the USA hide the death of over 130 people and the loss of a sub? Impossible. Secrets abound in the undersea service, just read "Blind mans bluff" to see about a few.
...
ReplyDeleteI read the rumor about a destroyed sub. Actually, They could keep it secret for a few weeks or up to almost 6 months, but eventually it would come out. Eventually the blue or gold team and their dependents would realize that a sub has not comeback to port.
ReplyDeleteThe USSR are the people, who shot down an airline and launched an ICBM against Hawaii. So shooting a sub is no biggie.
Or Pence's wife had a health scare or something innocuous like that. There was no underwater shooting war lol. Sometimes, while watching geopolitics gradually heating up, we want things to have a more exciting explanation than the usual, like a fire or an alarming x-ray.
ReplyDeleteAlso, of course they released the names of the deceased. They've been doing that with their officers in Syria for years now. I swear some of ya'll are still living in the 80's.
Putin was alive in the 80s. His mindset was formed then.
