Nikkei Asian Review: HP, Dell and Microsoft join electronics exodus from China
Production shift to create new rivals for world's consumer tech factory
TAIPEI/HONG KONG/CHONGQING -- Global consumer electronics makers HP, Dell, Microsoft and Amazon are all looking to shift substantial production capacity out of China, joining a growing exodus that threatens to undermine the country's position as the world's powerhouse for tech gadgets.
HP and Dell, the world's No. 1 and No. 3 personal computer makers who together command around 40% of the global market, are planning to reallocate up to 30% of their notebook production out of China, several sources told the Nikkei Asian Review.
Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Sony and Nintendo are also looking at moving some of their game console and smart speaker manufacturing out of the country, multiple sources told the Nikkei Asian Review. Other leading PC makers such as Lenovo Group, Acer and Asustek Computer are also evaluating plans to shift, according to people familiar with the matter.

WNU Editor: This exodus is going to continue, even with a trade deal.
MAGA!
ReplyDeleteHas Venezuelan regime change happened yet? Cool.
ReplyDeleteWhen the trust is broken.....
ReplyDeleteChinese civilization has been around for 5000 years. Trump has completely destroyed it for all time. VICTORY.
ReplyDeleteFurthermore, Nother Korea no longer has nukes.
As soon as I read Lenovo Group are evaluating plans to shift production away from China I knew this article was a POS. Lenovo is a Chinese company with strong links to the PLA.
ReplyDeleteBusinessmen read the tea leaves. They might be more tariffs and more battles in the future. So they are spreading out their suppl my chain. that is the Trump effect. It will not bring the bulk of those jobs back to the US perhaps, but it will take many of them away from China and thus weaken our main adversary.
ReplyDeleteSo, good job Trump. Neither Bush nor Obama had the balls.
We are not dealing with unicorn fart tech. Stuff just doesn't happen automatically just because you think about it. There is no appetite for war so the direct military option is off the table. SO that means slower methods. Why you are so in love with a fascist dictator like Maduro is disturbing. Maybe you cannot help it. Maybe you are low IQ, but it is still disturbing.
How's regime change going in Persia? Super.
ReplyDeleteBusinessmen are pretty smrt. I mean smart. Tea leaves and such.
Also slower methods. Cool.
I'll see ya' in 2029 for the 50th anniversary of the Islamic Republic!
ReplyDeleteThanks Angie!!!!!!!!!!
The Islamic Republic won't last 3 years after the dishonorable Khamenei passes. He has no successor.
ReplyDelete;)
I mentioned this on this blog years ago, in my industry they started fleeing China about 2 years ago exactly. It definitely has to do with Trump, but more importantly with the growing realization (it's a giant waking up, really, it takes time) in the US that China is a much bigger threat than what CNN makes us believe about the Russia diversion. While the Russia DIVERSION was going on (yes they did stuff, that's what Russians do ffs), the Chinese kept robbing the store - in the hundreds of billions/year.
ReplyDeleteSo time to wake the f up. If you invest in China, your money will not be save, obviously - never was - now also the returns will be unlikely. So you will see not only a continued money drain, but the more important brain drain.
The housing bubble is still barely spoken of. That is a much, much bigger fish - in the trillions already, and the Chinese gov is trying to postpone the crash buy spending tens of billions a week now. This will obviously not be possible any longer, so a trade deal is needed, OR the trade negotiations must be broken with a small offensive and the left calling Trump Hitler again. Oh these fools :) Good to have people like the parrot on your side.
This trend has been going on for some time; and is a product of Chinese success. As China created their middle class, wages went up causing companies to look elsewhere, like Vietnam. The current trend I am sure is bumped by Chinese politics and the Trade war, but has been happening.

ReplyDeleteAgainst the rules of nature the vipers are dancing.
ReplyDeleteSo assembly will be done in some other country like Vietnam using Chinese components as is the case now, and then Trump, if he is re-elected will mess around with that too, for want of anything constructive to do, and work will be moved around again, maybe even back to China. Heck if he can bully China he can bully any country, or state, for that matter.
The main point is, those jobs will never come to America until wages drop to around Chinese/other Asian levels. What is very clear from this action is that it is the corporations that will eventually rule the world and countries will be lucky to have their leaders become an honorary members of the board of directions.
