Here’s the POLITICO count of House lawmakers hopping aboard the wagon.

President Donald Trump has faced calls for his removal from office since the very start (and before he’d even won the White House!). But the movement for his actual impeachment has really gained steam this year with the conclusion of Robert Mueller’s probe into Russia meddling in the 2016 presidential election. So far, more than half of House Democrats have either called for an impeachment investigation or said outright that they would vote to remove the president from office. Here’s how close Trump really is to facing impeachment proceedings:

: There are 49 Democrats who have not committed to an impeachment or impeachment inquiry — yet. Most of these representatives are from districts that voted for Trump in 2016.

  1. At this point NO ONE has committed to impeachment. Pelosi did not get a single vote for this gesture today. She just announced an impeachment inquiry. An impeachment inquiry that Rep. Nadler has been holding for weeks. Vulnerable Democrats remain protected. Shrieking progressives are satiated. For now - until a hard vote is taken. If there ever is.

    Now we're learning that President Trump is authorizing the full release of the "whistleblower" testimony. (IE: Leaker testimony)

  4. I don't know what Democrats are smoking. The procedure is long and there is no way the Republican Senate is going to vote for impeachment. So........
