Once again you show the quotient of your wisdom to your age is monotonically decreasing.

A math prof once real;ted to the class how some Italian mathematicians were fast and loose in the field of mathematics around the turn of the 19th to 20th century in differential geometry. After it was found out, it was decades before people wanted to study the topic again.

Academics can do a lot of damage to their field for a long time.

So can academics superficially skimming fields outside their ken.

The alarmists are every but as bad as Paul Ehrlich, who although wrong, fools still listen to that blind man half a century later.

Not to worry though, AGW is all about implementing socialism and cementing power for the elites, so you ought to be good with it.

  6. The Population Bomb, written with his wife Anne Ehrlich in 1968, predicted “hundreds of millions of people are going to starve to death” in the 1970s – a fate that was avoided by the green revolution in intensive agriculture.

Many details and timings of events were wrong, Paul Ehrlich acknowledges today, but he says the book was correct overall.

“Population growth, along with over-consumption per capita, is driving civilisation over the edge: billions of people are now hungry or micronutrient malnourished, and climate disruption is killing people.”

    ReplyDelete
  7. "but he says the book was correct overall."

Kind of the referee of his own predictions.

He lost the bet he made with another academic about his predictions. But so long as he Paul or one of his supporters can edit his wiki page, he looks like a winner.

Getting down there in the weeds with stuff to worry about like micronutrients aren't you.

You can't point to carbs, protein, iron, vitamin C or other things, so you have to dig deeper about things to harp about.

People of color is the current use to describe those non white. These conventions change over time. When I was at Ft Lee, Vir., I got on a bus at the camp and sat at the back of the bus. the driver told me the back was for "colored." I told him I was on military reservation and could sit where I wanted...At one time, people referred to blacks as African-Americans till the objection from those who were black but from the islands..thus Blacks now favored use. We talk about whites and non white (move from larger group to smaller, ie, Humans, men, women, old, young, homosexual, heteroxsexual etc) And so Non White=blacks, browns (hispanic, mexican, latinos); and Asian (we do not use Yellow nor Reds (for native Americans)...That said, all the tv talk shows, papers, magazines refer to Whites and non whites.
And as far as Asian admittance in to universities, first, more often than not we are really referring to Chinese. But if you look at current admissions of Asians in Harvard, Berkeley, the elite high schools in NY city, you will see that states also use these terms.

  26. "People of color is the current use to describe those non white. "

That is a lie. I gave a concrete example proving that it was a lie.

    "These conventions change over time."

It is whatever mendacious liberals want it to mean. Much as Hermann Goering decided, who was a Jew (I will decide who is a Jew!), Liberals determine, who is a person of color, so as to gain power.

Another concrete example is the idiot Spike Lee calling Hispanic "White"" if they are selling drugs in the 'hood' and, minorities on voting day. Such is the self dealing in identity politics.

"And as far as Asian admittance in to universities, first, more often than not we are really referring to Chinese blah, blah, blabbbity blah ... Hear the great Lapides expund like a learned professor about something he thinks he knows about.

I say you are sickening my boy just sickening.

Most importantly, I was referring to caps on admissions of Asian-Americans. There use to be caps on admission to Jews. It is ironic that we now have an ERSATZ Jew defending caps on Asians. You're through the gate so why not close it behind you right?

As a minor note, I said Asian not Chinese.

At any rate, if I were you, I would refrain from being disrespectful of Chinese as Chinese money from China is a very important funding source for Democrat Party leaders. Just ask La Gore and Bubba Clinton.

By the end of 1944, the number of tank destroyer battalions in training at Camp Hood declined rapidly but field artillery battalions and the Infantry Replacement Training Center replaced them. The last year of World War II saw a major shift of emphasis in Camp Hood’s mission and a drastic reduction in population. As the war came to an end, the training of troops slowed and equipment reclamation and demobilization planning became the priorities. A separation center was established in September 1945, and as the year ended, post strength had fallen to 1,807 prisoners and about 11,000 troops.

In January 1946, the 2nd and 20th Armored Divisions arrived from overseas. From the end of 1946 to 1950, Camp Hood changed little, but on April 15, 1950, Camp Hood became a permanent installation and was redesignated as Fort Hood. During the Korean War years, the post continued its training mission and provided individual replacements for many of the units involved in that conflict.

  34. MICHAEL BLOOMBERG: China is doing a lot. Yes, they’re still building a bunch of coal-fired power plants
HOOVER: And they’re still burning coal.
BLOOMBERG: Yes they are. But, they are now moving plants away from the cities. The Communist Party wants to stay in power in China and they listen to the public. When the public says ‘I can’t breathe the air,’ Xi Jinping is not a dictator. He has to satisfy his constituents, or he’s not going to survive.
    HOOVER: He’s not a dictator?
BLOOMBERG: No, he has a constituency to answer to.
HOOVER: He doesn’t have a vote, he doesn’t have a democracy. He’s not held accountable by voters. Is the check on him just a revolution?

    Wow?

So coal plants have moved away from many cities. When I was growing up they built the smoke stacks higher. And yet coal is still being sued. Cola plants are still being shuttered because of lawsuits due to liberal lawfare.

So this dude is saying they are moving the coal plants away from the cities. Is this true? How is that done. There are cities everywhere in China.

So yuet again liberals give China a pas.

    Michael Doomberg did.
    Greta Thunberg did.

She attacked France but not China. This is typical of liberals. You attack weaker, civil people or entities that follow the law. So for zero drug tolerance you attack a high school girl for bringing aspirin for PMS, but avoid the drug dealer, who belongs to a gang.

Trump was asking about Crowdstrike in the phone call. Crowdstrike and the DNC involved themselves in geo-politcal diplomacy by accusing the Russians of hacking and then refusing to let the FBI look at the server.

Since Crowdstrike inserted itself in geo-politics, trump had every fucking to ask about it.

(Money in politics is now a matter of national security.) As somebody, and I don't remember who now, said on television this morning, without Ukraine, Russia is just Russia. With Ukraine, Russia is the Soviet Union. If the President* of the United States is involved in any way in that, the roof caves in.

There's no telling what information is contained in the Secret Server and elsewhere in a White House that has been reconfigured to resemble a conspiracy to obstruct justice. This, I promise you, is just getting started.
    [...]
So now we have a smoking gun, every bit as damaging and self-inflicted as the Nixon tapes.

And irony of ironies, we have Trump up against another president who began as a TV entertainer. Except that Zelensky, who once played a president on Ukrainian TV, seems to have navigated the transition to actual president a lot better than Trump.

There are also reports that Trump has withdrawn his efforts to prevent the whistle-blower from testifying to Congress because of pressure from Republican legislators. And this is the second game changer. As flat-out illegal behavior is documented, expect more Republicans to defect.

    [...]
“There’s a recognition immediately by those surrounding the president that he has done something bad,” Ben-Veniste said. “We have an allegation that there was an immediate effort by the White House to sequester the evidence of the conversation the president had with Mr. Zelensky by . . . making an essentially bogus claim of national security that put the material under very highly classified protection.”

And, as the complaint suggests, Trump does not face the same pushback from top staffers and advisers that he used to, further insulating him in an echo chamber that is often filled with misinformation. Mueller’s report, for example, revealed that several former aides, including confidant Corey Lewandowski and White House counsel Don McGahn, refused to carry out Trump’s orders to attempt to interfere in the investigation, likely protecting Trump from additional accusations of obstruction.

You do not assume that since it is out in the open that it has been declassified and you can now do anything wit it.

Now I am not up on the law about mis-classifying information (purposefully or otherwise), but I assume recipients of misclassified information getting it in their email would treat it the same as they would as if it were found on the internet.

A case could be made against the recipients, if it were obvious. Start rolling up the smaller fish. Clintons can't financially secure all of them if they take a fall for the Clinton Crime Syndicate (CCS). Can the CCS fund 150 people for taking a fall for them?

I suppose they could with the Russian oligarch money to the Clinton fund.

  54. The investigation actually began toward the end of the Obama administration. “This has nothing to do with who is in the White House,” said a senior State Department official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about an ongoing probe. “This is about the time it took to go through millions of emails, which is about 3½ years.”

Miss Hillary did a lot of damage.

  55. Deep State Intel Community and Congress Colluded – Whistleblower Documents ALSO ALTERED by CRS — Likely Illegal Act

"** The Deep State Intel community only updated their online site regarding whistleblower protections four days ago to reflect the recent changes before the recent complaint was released. This was done in spite of zero legislative action on the related regulations. The term ‘urgent concern’ is now used 10 times in the Congressional Research Service (CRS) manual and was only used 2 times in the prior publication. (7- 10)"
