Reuters: Ukrainian officials will not testify in U.S. impeachment inquiry: foreign minister

MARIUPOL, Ukraine (Reuters) - Ukrainian officials will not testify in the U.S. Congress in the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump because Kiev does not want to get involved in the internal affairs of another country, Ukraine’s foreign minister said on Tuesday.

“We don’t have anything to do with this at all,” Vadym Prystaiko told reporters on the sidelines of an investment conference in the port city of Mariupol. “We won’t go there, we won’t comment.”

Democrats are investigating whether there are grounds to impeach Trump over his request to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate a domestic political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden. Biden is a front-runner for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

WNU Editor: As I said in a previous post. Living in the former Soviet Union we would call this impeachment inquiry a "show trial".  My fellow Ukrainians also know what a "show trial" is, and they see this impeachment inquiry as a show trial that has a fixed outcome. Bottom line. The Ukraine government wants no part of this impeachment inquiry, and they will not assist in anyway the Democrats in their proceedings. They see President Trump as a close ally (which he is), and they do not share the Democrats view that they were under pressure by President Trump to investigate the Bidens. But while many Ukrainians have a favourable view of President Trump, many (if not all of them) see the Biden family as a symbol of corruption and on how outsiders took advantage of Ukraine in the past. They also know that Biden is a Democrat who has ties to the people who are pushing to impeach President Trump, and that is another reason on why they want no part of this impeachment process.

  1. Not a show trial. Either they (Dems) will make a viable case or they will not be able to and will look foolish. We will know when what they are preparing is presented in full...that will be soon.To prejudge prior to this presentation is the manner in which an authoritarian govt imposes a verdict without evidence,

  2. When he released a “transcript” of his July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, President Trump called it a “an exact word-for-word transcript of the conversation, taken by very talented stenographers.” Trump could not have been more explicit in his claim that the White House had, in full transparency, published a complete account of the call. “All you have to do is read what they wrote down, the stenographers,” Trump said later, “They wrote down an exact call.”

Guess what? It wasn’t. The New York Times reports that National Security Council Ukraine expert Lt. Col. Alexander S. Vindman, who listened in on the call, testified that the “transcript” was abridged. This explosive report has two important ramifications: First, the call was even worse than the published record lets on, and second, that some officials undertook a cover-up to hide damaging information it contained.

  3. Yeah and they have to be scared of Democrats ruling again in 2024. As unreal as that sounds, even the Democrats will at one point have a president again - once people have forgotten how they have ruined our legal system, electoral system, used race baiting, gender cards, mob and intimidation tactics.. it will be forgotten soon what they did to Kavanaugh, how they teamed with the FBI and the media to take down a duly elected president.
And the Ukrainians know the Democrats only gave them field rations in the fight against Russia - and that was before they were pissed off for even suggesting that Biden is corrupt. So yeah, the Ukrainians do not want to get involved.

  6. anon
deal with what is being said here..Flynn
"But the lawyers offered no explanation for why Mr. Flynn lied to agents about conversations he had during the presidential transition in late 2016 with the Russian ambassador, Sergey I. Kislyak. And even in accepting blame, Mr. Flynn portrayed himself as a victim of F.B.I. tactics to trap him."

  7. In his prepared opening statement obtained by NPR, Anderson says senior officials at the White House blocked State Department officials from releasing a statement that would have condemned Russia's action in Ukraine in November 2018.

Anderson also describes a June 13 meeting in which national security adviser John Bolton "cautioned that Mr. Giuliani was a key voice with the President on Ukraine which could be an obstacle to increased White House engagement."

  8. The FBI agents believed Flynn during and after the interview. Then Lisa Page changed her 302 and thus doctored a doc.

If she wasn't guilty , she would still be employed by the FBI

Bolton is a hawk. Now all of the sudden libtards or should I say lietards love hawks,

Of course they do. they have no standards except double standards.

I like Bolton, but the only tool he has in his toolbox is a war hammer and it is not always smashing time. Sun Tzu would say as much.

Libturds and Dims hated Bolton with a passion until a month ago.

  9. Trump & his proxes have ridiculed General Mattis, General McMaster, General Kelly, and now Lt. Colonel Vindman, all decorated soldiers who willingly and dutifully signed up to work for him. I never want to hear again about Trump's alleged support for our soldiers and veterans.
