DW: Germans think Trump is more dangerous than Kim Jong Un and Putin

When asked who posed the greatest threat to world peace, Germans in a recent poll overwhelmingly pointed to one person — Donald Trump. The US president beat out the leaders of North Korea, Russia, China and Iran.

Although Washington is one of Germany's closest allies, public trust in the US has significantly eroded under President Donald Trump, a new YouGov survey showed.

Germans were asked who was more dangerous: North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Russian President Vladimir Putin or US President Donald Trump.

Some 41% of Germans said they thought Trump was the most dangerous out of the five world leaders.

In second place was Kim with 17%, followed by Putin and Khamenei with 8%. Coming in last was China's Xi with 7%.

Over 2,000 people in Germany took part in the survey, which was commissioned by news agency dpa.

WNU Editor: 41% of Germans said they thought Trump was the most dangerous. In second place was Kim with 17%, followed by Putin and Khamenei with 8%. Coming in last was China's Xi with 7%. No surprises for me in this poll. German media makes the American mainstream media look like rabid Trump supporters when they report on President Trump.

  1. An electorate that would elect the Greens, the SPD, and a CDU with a communist leader would not like Trump.

This same spineless electorate allows Russians to assassinate people in Berlin proper. In response Merkel takes dictation however you spell it.

  2. And who could possibly question a country with such an impeccable record of choosing its own leaders?

  3. Schroeder was a leader who showed his true quisling colors by working for Gazprom.

Merkel is a communist from her days as a university student.

  4. That's true, but I'm going back in history a bit more than that.

  6. Going back a bit more is looking at psychohistory. It is as predictable as the Xmas Truce and the heady days earlier in that year.

  7. Why should Americans care what the Germans think of Trump anymore than the Germans what Americans think of Merkel? Must be a slow news day at DW.

  8. It's interesting just as a point of observation how left leaning the media is in Germany. Just so you know, media in Germany is extremely left. That's the point WNU tried to make as many national and even international decisions are heavily influenced by this media machine that influences our global political system by now
