Harvard Chemistry Department Head Is Charged With Lying To US Officials About His Ties To Chinese Research Agencies

Reuters: U.S. charges target alleged Chinese spying at Harvard, Boston institutions

(Reuters) - A Harvard University department chair and two Chinese nationals who were researchers at Boston University and a Boston hospital were charged on Tuesday with lying about their alleged links to the Chinese government.

The charges are part of an aggressive effort by U.S. authorities to block what they say are Chinese attempts to steal American scientific and technological advances.

“This is a very carefully directed effort by the Chinese government to fill what it views as its own strategic gaps,” Andrew Lelling, U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts, told a news conference.

  2. The failings of capitalism and our society at large.

People rat you out for money. Not fame. Not glory. Not brotherhood (or sisterhood^^). Not pride. Not honor. Not peace.

    No. For money.

For little paper bills (and he likely had plenty of those already, giving his status) this guy sold out your children, your neighbors, your friends.

He will get 10-15 years tops. Out in 4-8.

And he won't see prison like you or I would. NO, he gets comfy prison. With newspapers. TV. Walking outside. Decent food. Shelter.

What do homeless people get who don't rat you out (even though they have it bad)?

Oh, they get stabbed in their sleep. Hit with metal pols. Mugged. Spat on. Shamed.

This guy? Gets Harvard. Nice salary. Praise. Status.

  3. Money is about existence. Anyone, who is smart enough, to climb the ladder knows that the higher they climb, the worse the fall. I think the academia suffers from the same basic problem as Sulla and Marius.

If the homeless are so good, how is it that Ted did ... Well, you can read what he did. I think Ted is an okay or good guy now, but he did some pretty horrific things.

‘The Man With the Golden Voice’: Where Is Ted Williams Now?

Or there was the young homeless guy, who killed a young woman on campus at Iowa State, because he was horny. That guy was homeless not because things were against so much as he didn't have a plan or a work ethic.

Spat on? You do not generally spit on homeless people. I do not know of one person who does it, recommends it, or brags about it. If you spit on a homeless person, they might spit back.

How about the homeless guy who dumped the bucket of hot diarrhea on a woman in California? In a civilized country the guy would have been disappeared.

I think maybe the prof should be locked up for life,m but a judge will come along and say "Overcrowding ..."

Beside why are we talking about China. It is suppose to be all about Russia until Trump is gone.

Meanwhile Shifty Schiff can take the Russian ambassador to the Aspen Institute.

  5. "name one time in his years in office Trump has said one bad word about Russia!"

Would you have felt better, if Trump had called Putin rocket man?

Trump gave Ukraine lethal aid. Obungles did not. The Democrats voted against the lethal aid that they are complaining that Trump gave Ukraine.

"we are talking about china because the post is about china, moron"

The overall Marxstream Media-Democrat Complex narrative is Russian Collusion. Once in awhile something might crowd out the narrative, but the Democrats steer back to it. I was gently admonishing the liberal faithful before the Democrat leaders chastised them.

Remember if you do not stay on the Party message and the Party loses, the Party will look for scapegoats.

  6. I think this incident and numerous others prove there is another virus sweeping the world; tooth fairy wheeeeeee virus. First detected in the White House after the 2008 election, it has spread to educational institutions and populations throughout the world. There was a brief episode during the Carter administration but for some unexplainable reason the invasion of Afghanistan by the Russian military was it's cure back then.
Symptoms include victims buying sandboxes for deep head insertions, tooth fairy wallpaper on walls, ceilings, shower curtains, and an unwavering belief that bees don't bother you if you don't bother them, among many others.

  7. Obama did give non-lethal military aid to the Ukraine. Non-lethal aid isn’t just pillows and blankets as Trump asserted but includes: Secure communication devices, Armored personnel carriers, Radar detectors, surveillance drones and yes Meals Ready to Eat.

The reason Obama declined to give lethal military aid was a judgement call… Giving lethal aid could escalate the conflict and actually achieve the opposite of what the US and Europe was trying to achieve. Ukraine’s Army, Population and economy are all dwarfed by Russia so if the battle intensifies the Ukraine has no chance of winning on their own. The EU and the US aren’t exactly spoiling for a fight here and at the time would rather the battle be a low intensity simmering that is costing Russia’s treasury to keep engaged at their sacrifice of other things they could be doing with the money and manpower they’ve committed to annexing Crimea and coordinating the rebels in Donbass.

  8. "At the time, Obama officials were debating whether to send lethal military equipment amid the conflict with Russia, particularly Javelin anti-tank missiles. Obama rejected a request from Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko for lethal aid in 2014, though the White House approved a $53 million aid package that included vehicles, patrol boats, body armor and night-vision goggles, as well as humanitarian assistance."

You know what vehicle is when you cannot a reach out with antitank missiles?

They are a present all gift-wrapped with a bow tie with soldiers inside.

Obama was and is a schmuck.

Obama was transmitting to Putin that he was doing the bare minimum to help Ukraine. If Obasm did any less it would be too obvious whose side he was on.

This isn't Afghanistan. It is not straining the Russian budget at all. You posited it, laid it out there and then nothing. No proof.

You must mean all the transportation costs for aircraft and sea going merchant ships for Russia to engage in Ukraine. Or maybe you can point to contingency spending blowing a HOLE IN THE RUSSIAN BUDGET. Or maybe you are just shitting us.
