Gallup Poll: Most American's Disapprove The Media's Handling Of The Covid-19 Coronavirus Pandemic

Gallup: Coronavirus Response: Hospitals Rated Best, News Media Worst

* Hospitals' handling of disease rated best of nine institutions, leaders
* All institutions and leaders receive majority approval, except news media
* Republicans and Democrats tend to differ drastically in approval

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Americans are generally positive in their evaluations of how each of nine leaders and institutions has handled the response to the coronavirus situation. Eight of the nine receive majority positive ratings -- led by U.S. hospitals, at 88% approval. Only the news media gets a more negative than positive review.

These data are from a March 13-22 Gallup poll, with the field period starting on the same day President Donald Trump declared a national emergency over the coronavirus outbreak, and spanning sharp increases in the number of documented cases in the U.S., as well as the number of deaths.

About four in five Americans approve of the way their state government and government agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health are handling the coronavirus outbreak. Similarly, 83% of parents of children younger than 18 rate their children's school or daycare positively for its handling of the situation. And 82% of U.S. workers rate their employer's response positively.

Meanwhile, about six in 10 U.S. adults approve of the response by their elected leaders in Washington: President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and the U.S. Congress as a whole.

Update: Poll: News Media Are the Least Trusted Institutions in Handling the Coronavirus Crisis (National Review)

WNU Editor: The 60% approval for President Trump, Vice-President Pence, and Congress mirrors opinion polls of other leaders in other countries. The low approval rating for the U.S. media does not surprise me. Everyday I watch the national news from Russia, France, Australia, Britain, Canada, and the U.S.. Coverage of this crisis in each of these countries has been excellent, but with one exception. When compared to the other countries, the U.S. media's coverage of this crisis has been partisan and horrible. It only has a 44% approval rating, with a majority of Democrats supporting it. Republicans and Independents do not.

Update #2: Definitely .... The Political Media Are Failing America (David Harsanyi, National Review)

  1. Not only the media but corrupt governors

Businesses tied to Gov. Tom Wolf, top Pa. senator close after questions about how they qualified as ‘life-sustaining’

"Thousands of businesses in Pennsylvania have closed under Gov. Tom Wolf’s unprecedented statewide shutdown to help slow the spread of COVID-19, but not the company that the Democratic governor once owned, or the business now owned by the Senate’s most powerful member."

' On Thursday, Mr. Wolf’s office said it had rescinded? a waiver that had been issued to the governor’s former business, a kitchen and bath cabinet supply company in Central Pennsylvania, after Spotlight PA and PA Post inquired about how it qualified as “life-sustaining.” '

  2. The US no longer has "mainstream" news. The American "press" is dead and sold out, lock, stock, and barrel to the globalists. That's why more and more of us tune in to independent outlets like WNU. The days of Bernard Shaw and Judy Woodruff are gone, let alone the glory days of Huntley Brinkley et al. The problem now is that there are a lot more fringe "news" sources that we must tune out. It's like the Wild West of Internet news. But as long as there is a relatively free Internet, there will be opportunity for new news sources to emerge and be recognized. DO NOT EXPECT THIS TO LAST FOR LONG. That's why non-partisan, independent news sources around the world, such as WNU, need to establish their presence NOW, BEFORE they are are cut off at the knees and foreced into silence.
